In undertaking a competition for the design of the ferry terminals, it is intended to provide the opportunity for suitably skilled and talented designers, whether large or small, new or established to demonstrate originality and innovation in the design of the ferry terminals. The winning concept design will be selected by a panel Chaired by the Queensland Government Architect. Technical support and advice will provided to the Selection Panel by a technical advisory group including representatives from the Brisbane City Council. 2. The design must address the architectural and engineering requirements of the terminal including fixed furniture and fittings as well as lighting and other servicing requirements. 3. Design Objectives The successful design will: Be highly legible and identifiable as a river ferry passenger terminal Be functional and safe with excellent amenity in relation to the accommodation and movement of passengers whilst waiting, boarding and disembarking. Be functional and safe in relation to the docking and mooring of ferries and other marine craft. Positively contribute to the place making and visual amenity of the location. Represent good value for money in terms of whole of life cost and benefit delivered to the community. Be durable over the operational life of the terminal including a resilience to flood events. Exhibit high design merit consistent with the Governments commitment to making Queensland a hub for design excellence in the wider Asia-Pacific region.
