Introduction: Physical Education is an essential part of every students learning experience. As Physical Educators, our ultimate goal is for students to gain knowledge and acquire skills that will allow them to live an active and healthy lifestyle. Our motive as educators is to furnish every student the opportunity to participate, engage and appreciate the three curricular areas of physical education: individual sports, team sports, and recreational games/activities.

Dress Code: ALWAYS Bring athletic shoes and athletic wear in class. No clothes that promote profanity, drugs, and alcohol are allowed to be worn in class. Rings, earrings and necklaces are not allowed during class for safety reasons. Please remove them before coming to class. The student is recommended to bring a combination padlock to use for the locker room. The instructor is not responsible for any items missing. The students are liable for their own belongings. In addition, students are required to shower and is part of participation grade. We suggest that each student bring a towel for sanitary reasons. For every 3 non-dress days, 5 percent will be deducted on your final grade and necessary actions will be made. Note* No make-up for non dressers!!! Absences: It is the students responsibility to provide a parents/guardians or physicians (medical) note regarding their absence(s). Reasons of absence (s) must comply to school policies in order for absence (s) to be excused. ***Attendance Notes - Commiting six (6) unexcused absences will receive no credit for the semester. - Students absent 3 consecutive days or more must submit a doctors note to the school nurse. - For every 3 unexcused absences, the student will automatically be referred to the attendance office. - It is the students responsibility to arrange with the teacher for work/tests missed within the days his/her was absent - Special accommodation can be made for students who are not able to perform physical activities due to reasonable circumstances. Ex: injury, illness, disability, etc..

ATTENTION PARENTS:
If your child has medical problems (i.e. Asthma Epilepsy, Allergies, Heart Disease, Physical Impairment) or uses of mediation, please inform the instructor as soon as possible. Please contact the school nurse so that necessary precautions documentation and emergency preparations may be discussed. Only the school nurse is allowed to perform or administer any type of medication to the student. Tardiness

Students will be considered tardy to class if they not present during roll call. A tardy is excused only when a student returned from an excused note from the office, counselor/teacher. Students entering class 10 minutes late without an excuse note will be given an unexcused absence. Two unexcused tardiness will result to one unexcused absence.

Please refer to the school handbook. - Follow all rules in the locker room, gym, classrooms, and playing areas. - Profanity is unacceptable at all times - Gum, candy, betel nut, food, and drinks are not allowed in class or any of the physical education facilities - No Horseplaying. Report injuries immediately to your teacher so proper action can be taken. - Equipment should be used only when a teacher is present. - Respect the equipment so others may also have the opportunity to benefit and learn from what we have available to us. - Grading System

Credit System -Passing the class for 1 semester (2 quarters) is considered as .5 credit equivalent to 1 credit for the whole school year calendar.

Excellent- Respectful, hard-working, shows leadership. Satisfactory- Respectful, follows direction, shows effort. Needs Improvement- Follows direction occasionally, shows little effort. Unsatisfactory- Disrespectful, shows no effort, does not follow direction

Physical Education Course Outline FIRST QUARTER: Overall Physical Fitness Students will learn the basic rules of fitness and understand terminology and values of physical activity that will help them stay healthy throughout their lives. They will also understand health problems associated with inadequate fitness levels and components of physical fitness. Comprehending the safety practices during exercices and proper usage of equipment will be presented during this quarter. The student will be given the opportunity to assess their fitness level in terms of cardiovascular endurance, muscle strength and endurance, and flexibility. SECOND QUARTER: Ultimate Frisbee /Speed Ball The students will be expected to have a basic understanding of the history, safety, skills, and terminology related to the sport of ultimate Frisbee. The students will demonstrate through a test of knowledge with at least 60% accuracy by the end of the quarter. The students will be able to execute the basic skills of the game such as throwing the Frisbee in different forms and catching with a minimal of 60% success rate. The students will be able to work successfully with a partner or group 60% of the time and eventually play in game situations.

THIRD QUARTER: Flag Rugbee/Pickeball


The students will be expected to have a basic understanding of the history, safety, skills, and terminology related to the sport of basketball. The students will demonstrate through a test of knowledge with at least 60% accuracy. The students will be able to execute the basic skills of the game such as serving, hitting, teamwork with a minimal of 60% success rate. The students will be able to work successfully with a partner or group 60% of the time and eventually play in a game setting. The students will also learn some basic offensive and defensive schemes.

FOURTH QUARTER: TUMBLING/Post Physical Fitness Program


The final quarter will consist of different aspects of fitness in detailed fashion. Students will go in-depth with the structure of fitness such as aerobic endurance, body composition, hypertrophy training, striation training, power quickness, agility, and coordination. Students are expected exhibit improved level of health-related fitness by the end of the school year and understand the concept of fitness in general.
