Label guide

This document is a guide to facilitate the implementation of Volvos ODETTE transport Label. If, for any reason, discrepancies should exist between this guide and the specification TRANSPORT LABEL 1.4 (as published on www.volvo.com/edi_europe), it is always the information presented in the specification that is valid.

Odette label guide


Below is a guide to the Odette transport label, with references to Global DELFOR and Global DESADV. The examples correspond to the Label example found at the end of this document. Please visit: www.volvo.com/edi (EDI Europe, specifications) for complete specification. Bar Code density and dimensions The allowable ratio range of the barcode is 3.0 +- 0.2. The Ratio of the nominal width of the wide elements to the nominal width of the narrow elements must be 3:1 with an allowable range of 2.8:1 to 3.2:1.For each bar code symbol, the width of the narrow elements must be within the range of 0.33 mm to 0.432 mm, and the width of the wide elements must be within the range of 0.991 mm to 1.295 mm. (Please see Label specification, page 8). The bar code heights must be 13 mm high, or as near as possible depending on printer capability. Receiver area Volvos unloading location. Please give ship to, as designated by Volvo collected from the corresponding DELFOR segment NAD with qualifier ST, data element C080 and component 3036. (Example according to specification: NAD+ST+12345::92++VOLVO STORSTADEN'). Minimum font size of 7 mm. Dock and Gate area The Additional Internal Destination (consumption point). Please give information collected from DELFOR segment LOC with qualifier 159, data element C517, component 3225. (Example according to specification: LOC+159+123::92') The Additional Internal Destination can vary from each delivery for some plants, it is therefore extremely important that you collect the information from corresponding segment in DELFOR. Minimum font size 13 mm. Advice note number area (Code Identifier: N) The unique number of the despatch advice (DESADV). The number has to correspond to the number given on the Delivery Note Paper Form and in the DESADV segment BGM with qualifier 351, data element 1004, (Example according to specification: BGM+351+12345). Minimum font size 7 mm. Part number area (Code Identifier: P) Must be the part number designated by Volvo for the product in the package. Information has to correspond to the DESADV and DELFOR segment LIN, data element C212 and component 7140 (Example according to specification: LIN+++ 9126769:IN'). Minimum font size 13 mm. Quantity area (Code Identifier: Q) Quantity in the package or transport unit. When the unit of measurement is pieces, no notation is required. If it is kg, pairs, meters and so on, the type code is to be given. When used, the unit of measurement must be directly to the right of the quantity. The quantity must correspond to the quantity given in DESADV Segment QTY with qualifier 52 and component element 6060 (Example according to specification: QTY+52:123:C62'). Minimum font size 13 mm.

Supplier code area (Code Identifier: V) The supplier code defined by Volvo. The supplier code is given in the DELFOR and by you in DESADV segment NAD with qualifier SF, Data element C082, component 3039 (Example according to specification: NAD+SF+5098::92'). Minimum font size 5 mm. Date area The date has to be printed in the format YYMMDD, preceded by the character D (Despatch Date). The date has to show the actual date of despatch and has to correspond to the date given on the Delivery Note Paper Form and to the date given in the DESADV segment DTM with qualifier 137, component 2380. (Example according to specification: DTM+137:199805010920:203'). Minimum font size 7 mm. Serial Number (Code Identifier: S, M, G) Supplier package or transport unit identification number. The serial number must be a unique number and may not be repeated within one year. The serial number has to correspond to the information given in the DESADV segments below. Minimum font size 7 mm. Identifiers S, M or G are assigned to labels according to the actual way of packaging. Segment PCI, Data element C827, component 7511 indicates if the serial number belongs to an S-, M-, or G-label. (Example: PCI++++S::10') For S-labels the serial number is given in segment GIN, data element 7405. (Example: GIN+ML+1234+151004167+151004165') For M- and G-labels the serial number is given in segment RFF with qualifier ACI, component 1154. (Example: RFF+ACI:2222222')
