Henry
%n our thriller opening, male dominance isn&t 'uite as o(vious, although at the end of the opening you would suggest that in the end, the male dominance is definitely present. However for most of the opening we challenge the male dominance in thrillers as Henry is never actually seen until the end, although you do have suspicions of his presence. Henry is shown in a suit in a noir way which shows how the audience can relate to the past murder and therefore support the unsolved murder case. )ot only that (ut when Henry is shown, the effect is always (lack and white and again shows the thriller conventions of a noir thriller and relate (ack to the *+,-&s period. The shift in power from females to males is shown in "ames #ond. /kyfall. 0s originally 1 is a woman (ut you see the shift in dominance as the new 1 is a male as she is replaced. 0gain linking to the general storyline of our thriller opening.

Harry 2ime shown in The Third 1an!. eneral stereotype of males in the *+,period wearing a suit and tril(y. 0lso in (lack and white which relates to our thriller.

3nknown hooded figure of present day

The use of the hooded character shows the relationship (etween criminals in the *+,-&s and the present day. %t also shows the difference (etween how the appearance of the criminals has changed and what people now associate crime with e.g. hooded figures. 0lso hooded characters tend to (e linked with males and therefore we are supporting the general stereotype of a modern day criminal in our thriller opening. 4ur thriller opening overall shows the changing stereotypes of criminals over the years and what they are now associated (y. This can also (e related to lower class social groups living in rough, a(andoned areas. 2ike in the film 0dulthood which shows crime on the poorer streets and estates of England.

Eve
Eve was our *+,-&s victim, who is shown as a femme fatale type character of the noir period. /he enforces stereotypes of women in the *+,-&s period as she is a classical noir type character. /he is shown like this through the use of costume which is a very common noir costume of a dress and a (lack furry coat to reinforce the *+,-&s period. 0lso 5ewellery which was very common and fashiona(le in the noir period. Eve&s character is a lot like Eve from 4nce 3pon 0 time %n 0merica! as they are (oth very vulnera(le characters which is shown through the openings of each. 6ou can see through the openings of each that they are (oth vulnera(le characters which is commonly shown through females in thriller films. 0lso they (oth die very early in each thriller which is where we got some of our inspiration from, (oth the characters and the story line. However, the character of Eve again signifies how female dominance is shown in our thriller through two female characters and one male character 7presuma(ly8. 0lthough you could challenge whether the female dominance is even significant.
