Victory in the Cross!

The Romans had some pretty awful ways of punishing people. One of them,
you know, was how they killed our Lord, Jesus Christ. He was nailed to a cross, where He died.
But now, as Christians, we wear crosses around our necks. We build churches and put crosses on the very tops. We make the sign of the cross on our bodies. We hang crosses in our cars and in our houses. Some people just cant understand this. After all, a cross was a weapon! The cross was the way that thousands of people were killed! How could it be a symbol for us? How can we remind ourselves of it all the time?
Well, thats because we think about what Christ did for us. We think about how God loves us so much that He sent His Son to die on the cross for us. Then we think about what happened after thatChrist rose from the dead!

Today is the third Sunday in Lentthe day we remember the Holy Cross.

ALL ABOUT

ARCHANGEL GABRIEL

On Tuesday, well celebrate the wonderful feastday of the Annunciation. Thats the day, you remember,
when an angel visited Mary and told her that she would be the Theotokos, the Mother of God! Nine months later is Christmas, the birthday of our Lord. That angel was the Archangel Gabriel, and we celebrate his feastday this week, too. Many people have called Gabriel the leader of the angels, because he had such an important job to doto announce the good news to young Mary.

How many crosses?

How many crosses can you count on this church?

But what else did Gabriel do? Gabriel also told Zachariah that his wife, Elizabeth, was going to have a child baby St. John the Baptist. Some theologians say that it was Gabriel who told Marys parents that they were going to have a baby toothe baby Mary. Some say that Gabriel announced the good news of our Lords birth to the shepherds too. So you seeThe archangel Gabriel is full of good news! Lets remember him this week!
We remember Archangel Gabriel on Wednesday, March 26th.
