In 2012, at a Public Land/Water Access Association (PLWA) forum, Walsh was asked about how the Governor would make appointments for the Fish, Wildlife and Parks commission. Walsh said: I can tell you from my experience as a leader and a manager within the Department of Military Affairs whether he was an individual, my best friend or not. If he wasnt going to do the job, Im not going to put him into a position. Because that would only make me look bad, going to have to make me work, cover up or take care of issues that hes failing with.
