About Us and the Symposium

The Department of Chemistry was established in 1987 and since then has been doing path-breaking work in the contemporary chemistry research. Major thrust areas of the Department include Organic Synthesis, Magnetic Resonance, Solid State Chemistry, Organo-metallic Chemistry and Theoretical Chemistry. The Department offers Postgraduate programs in Chemistry including M.Sc. (Chemistry, 5yr Integrated), M.Sc. (Chemical Sciences), M. Phil. (Chemistry) and Ph.D. The Department has been recognised for special funding by UGC (SAP-DRS) and DST (FIST).

To bring faculty, Ph.D. scholars and post-graduate students on one-side and industry on the other, the Department is organizing a one-day symposium UIIC-14. The symposium will have invited talks and presentations from Ph.D. scholars. Latest trends in chemistry and chemical industry will be discussed in the symposium.
