The Season of Lent 2014

Christ. Even though my conscience accuses me of having grievously sinned against all Gods commandments and of never having kept any of them, and even though I am still inclined to all evil, nevertheless, without my deserving it at all, out of sheer grace God grants to me the perfect satisfaction, righteousness, and holiness of Christ, as if I had never sinned nor been a sinner, as if I had been as perfectly obedient as Christ was obedient for me. All I need to do is to accept this gift of God with a believing heart.

The season of Lent (from the Latin meaning Spring) is a time of the year in which Christians from all kinds of backgrounds set aside time to reflect upon the meaning of the death of Jesus (the season covers the 40 days leading up to the celebration of Easter beginning on Wed, Mar 5 and concluding on Sunday, April 20). During our Sundays together this season of Lent, well journey through a study called, Keeping in Step with the Spirit, as we look at the Person and Work of the Holy Spirit. Before His death, Jesus promised to give us His Spirit, Gods personal presence who enables us to live the Christian life.
