    Startingmyresearch,myonlysourceswerethelocallibrary,reliablesourcesontheinternetand schooldatabases.Afewweekslater,IdecidedtogototheCowlesLibraryatDrakeUniversity. Beforegoingtothecollegiatelibrary,Icompiledalistofnewspapers,books,andothersources providedatthelibrary.Attheuniversitylibrary,IdidasmuchresearchasIcould,inthelimitedtimeI had.Comingoutofthelibrary,Ihadfoundseveralusefuldigitalcopiesofnewspapers,whichIwould nothavebeenabletoaccesswithoutusingtheuniversitysdatabases.Booksandothersourcesalso providedusefulinformation.

    AftercreatinganexhibitmyfirstyearofNationalHistoryDayandawebsitemysecond,I

    realizedthatIhadmuchmorepotentialandinterestindesigningawebpagecomparedtoaproject board.Havingalwaysenjoyedgraphicdesignandworkingwithtechnology,creatingawebsiteseemed ideal.IchallengedmyselftomakeanindividualprojectinacategoryIwasexperiencedin.

    ThisyearsthemeisRightsandResponsibilities.BeforeGandhiledtheSaltActCivil

    DisobedienceMovementinthe1930s,manyindividualshadtheirrightstakenaway.Theywere restrictedfrommakingtheirownsalt.Thiswasaresponsibilitywhichwasheldonlybythegovernment. Iftheywantedsalt,theywereforcedtobuyitfromthegovernment.Failingtodosowouldresultin severepenalty.ThismovemententirelychangedtherightsandresponsibilitiesoftheIndianpeople.They weregiventherightandwerenowresponsibletomaketheirownsalt.
