JIM’S COMMENTS James Smith, Director of Missions

Thanks be to our Lord for and excellent Associational Semi-Annual
Meeting which was held on September 14th at First Baptist Church,
Irvine! It’s wonderful that God’s people can come together in love
and harmony, and we have a great time of worship and fellowship.
I’m reminded of the words of the Apostle Paul, “I thank my God
upon every remembrance of you...for your fellowship in the gospel
from the first day until now (Phil. 1:3,5)”. This year of 2009 is the
one hundred eighty-sixth year of Ministry for our Boone’s Creek
Baptist Association. Many thanks to our leaders in our Association
for their hard work and ministry. Also, many thanks to all of our
former leaders who worked so hard in this Association in the years
gone by. I’m very thankful for our 37 Churches in their Ministry of
reaching people for our Lord in our Association, and for their help in
reaching people around the world.
A Special thanks to Irvine First Baptist Church for hosting our Semi-
annual Meeting on September 14. Many thanks to all their hard
work and much food. Thanks to Jeremie Michael for furnishing
special music, and thanks to Billie Pace for her music. We are very
thankful that our KBC Executive Director Dr. Bill Mackey, and our
Western Recorder Business Manager Dr. Tom Townsend could take
time out of their busy schedules to have a part in our program.
Many thanks to Bro. Keith Sands who served as our
Associational Moderator for the past 2 years. Our new Moderator
is Bro. Gary Willoughby, and Vice Moderator is Bro. Jeff Ryder. Keep
them in prayer.
Churches, give a special emphasis to our Eliza Broadus State
Mission’s offering which gives much help in many ministries in our
State. Do much praying and giving! Also, keep our “Find it Here”
Evangelism emphasis in Prayer. Thirty-Four of our 37 Churches are
participating. Praise the Lord!

ALLANSVILLE -
BEECH GROVE - Plan to have Homecoming on Oct./ 25 /09.
BOONE’S CREEK - Join us for Homecoming on Oct. 4 as we
celebrate 224 yrs. as a Church body! Worship will be at 11 am
followed by potluck meal. Kent Humphrey will be performing a
concert following the noon meal.
CALVARY - Last month-we celebrated Homecoming w/Bro.
Hoge Hockensmith as our guest speaker. We will have Revival
services Sept. 27-30 w/ Bro. Joe Mobley. Youth going bowling.
CENTRAL - The Youth had a Social Kick-Off Party. Central
participated in Church Under the Bridge in Lexington. A Senior
Adult Hymn Sing was held at Central. Harvest Day– Church’s
99th Anniversary on Sunday Oct. 25. In Nov. the youth will have a
Fall Retreat; on Nov. 15 Ross Baucher, Director at Evangelism
and Growth for the KBC, will be a guest speaker at Central. Our
Children’s Choirs will have a special Thanksgiving Worship
Service on Nov. 2nd, 09.
CLAY CITY– We had a good Revival w/ Bro. Freddy Helton.
Back to School Pizza Party for the students was enjoyed by all.
CORINTH - Aug. 29th held Community Wide Picnic and VBS
Reunion, enjoyed gospel singing, horseback riding, games,
delicious food and fellowship. Aug. 30th, Sunday AM Worship,
gospel singing with “The Klaves”, followed by Potluck Dinner
&fellowship after Worship Service. Every Sunday Morning at
9:30 am before SS and Worship, a time of Fasting and Prayer. To
participate in Fall Festival at Trapp Elementary to pass out flyers
and treats. On going Community Mission projects for the
Community.
COW CREEK BAPTIST– Large Homecoming with Music and
Dinner afterward. Was enjoyed by all who attended.
CREEKSIDE BAPTIST-
EMMANUEL - Our Church had a Fellowship Dinner to celebrate
Bro. Ron’s Birthday. Our Special Singers for the Month was the
Duncan’s.
EPHESUS– Our men’s softball team finished in 4th place in this
year tournament. The last week of Aug. was Sunday School
Teacher Appreciation week. Ernest Christopher won “Teacher of
the Year” award. Church outing to Legends game was Aug. 29.
We are collecting Eliza Broadus offering this month. Fall Festival
Sept 26 at Graham Family Farm. Tuesday night in town will be
Sept. 29 at Don Senor’s Restaurant. We will host Pastors/ Wives
dinner Oct. 15. (Please RSVP)
FAITH - We had a great Revival. Kenneth Rogers came home
and we visited him & Lena for his Birthday on Aug. 25th.
FRIENDSHIP - Fellowship dinner & special singing on Aug. 30.
Work on fellowship hall & parking lot on-going. Starting a new
visitation program. Work day scheduled for Oct. 3 to prepare for
Homecoming.
GREENBRIAR - n/a
HEIDELBERG-Our Revival starts Oct. 5-6-7 at 7 pm With Rev.
Wayne House. Special Singing. Everyone welcome.
HERITAGE - Youth celebrated end of summer with a pool party.
Proceeds from church wide yard sale, purchased 2 new stoves &
many other items for new kitchen. Sr. Moments– record crowd
played-Are You Smarter Than A 5th Grader? Esther study for
youth girls & their mother’s begin 9-13. All plans are in
place for Anniversary/ Dedication Celebration 9-27.
HOWARDS MILL- n/a
IRVINE FIRST - Water Tubing for the Youth-Lots of
fun. Our first 5th Quarter this year for the football team &
all students. Had over 100, had a great time. 5th Sunday
Singing & Ice Cream Social– all donations went to
Scholarship Fund. Had a really good time, us Baptist love
to eat. 9/14 Boone’s Creek Semi-Annual Meeting held at
First Baptist. Had really good attendance and lots of food.
9/16 Ladies Night @ 6 pm. All ladies welcome. 9/18 Our
second 5th Quarter for all students with live band. 9/19
Fish Fry– Good enough to make your mouth water. Fish
supplied by Reuben & Joyce Rose. I hope they had as
much fun catching the fish and we did the eating. 9/27
Homecoming– Brother Raymond Flynn will have the
sermon with eating & singing around the shelter in church
parking lot. Everyone welcome.
IVORY HILL - Started Sunday Night Bible Search
questions-10 per Sunday for congregation. Outdoor
singing and pig roast Sept. 26 at 12 noon. Revival Sept.
27-Oct 1. Homecoming Oct 4. Center Shot for youth
coming soon.
JEFFERSONVILLE –We held a Back-to-School Block
Party to pass out school supplies. Two Bibles were
purchased for the Frenchburg Group Home for boys. Our
Jr. Youth made a trip to Holiday World. Several attended
Super Saturday at Immanuel Baptist in Lexington. The
Outreach Ministry visited the Edgewood Estates Nursing
Home. A church wide picnic was held at Natural Bridge.
KIDDVILLE -
MACEDONIA - Men work day on the grounds Aug.
29th. Had a back to School bash on Aug. 1st. Having a
fall festival on Oct. 3rd. Women going to the Beth Moore
Conference Oct. 9th &10th in Memphis, TN
MEANS -
MT. OLIVE-
NEW HOPE - Starting up Youth Projects and Sunday
Evening activities for Youth.
NORTHSIDE –Homecoming Oct. 11-09. Going to install
a new furnace. Put new windows in the basement.
PANOLA –Got our new hymnals. Learning new songs.
Church trip to Natural Bridge. Homecoming Sept 27, with
Bro. Gilbert Wilder.
POWELL’S VALLEY–
PROVIDENCE-CC– Plan for Homecoming in October.
(date tentative).
PROVIDENCE, E.C.-Revival starting on Oct. 18 with
Bro. Kenny Davis from Berea. On Aug. 30th Bro. Hoge
Hockensmith preached our Sunday night service with
fellowship to follow. Please continue to remember Bro.
Hoge and Nora Lee in your prayers as they start a new
phase of their lives moving to Wilmore. What a
wonderful blessing they have been in our lives here at
Providence.
REID VILLAGE –We had 5th Sunday Hymn sing on
Aug. 30th. CIA & Mission are adopting a Homeless
Shelter in London, KY this year.
 REID VILLAGE - We will be taking our items to the
shelter last of Sept. Will be starting our Shoe Boxes
Ministry first of October.
SALEM– Women on Mission visited Irvine Nursing Home.
Took part in Jesus Fest. We’re planning a dinner for Pastor
Appreciation.
SPEARS MILL-Enjoyed our Sunday School Kick-Off the last
Sunday of Aug. We had lots of fun playing games and being
outside.
SPRING STREET– Old Fashion Day– Oct. 11, everyone
welcome.

Sharing Christ Across Kentucky
THOMAS-Our youth group enjoyed a lock-in at the
Boones Creek Camp. 20 youth and 7 adults. The youth
enjoyed hiking, soccer, skating, basketball and more. The
lock-in was a success. We are thankful to be a Member of
the Boone’s Creek Baptist Association.
WILLIAMS MEMORIAL– We’ve being planning for
the new Church year. The children had a Friday night
moving to begin their new School year. Come join us
for Homecoming Oct. 25-09.

“Find It Here” is a very special evangelism campaign to deliver the Gospel to 1.5 million households
across Ky. during March 6 thru 21, 2010. Isn’t that wonderful– inviting 1.5 million households to
attend our Churches on Easter Sunday next year. Be much in Prayer for each other in this Ministry.
Thirty-four of our 37 Churches are planning to receive a Salvation Brochure and a bag at a cost of
ten cents each to hang on doors next March. Churches, you are asked to Prayer Walk or Prayer
Drive your Church field this fall in preparation for this event.
