3rd Trimester
Mrs. Vespes 3rd Grade Class Updates

Happy Lent!
We have had a beautiful start to lent here at OLG. It was so beautiful to see Father pass out ashes to our class. He also asked us to commit to praying the Our Father daily for our school family. I took a great photo of the girls and then of the boys. It reminds us that God made us from dust and to dust we will return. We are truly nothing without Christ. We have two students who recently made their first Sacrament of Confession and will be making their First Holy Communion this year. Reconciliation is our current chapter in Religion, and it is a topic we have been discussing all year. Lent is the perfect time to take the family to confession. We have discussed how this sacrament gives you a clean soul when you are truly sorry. We can do

What a Copius Year!

Its the final trimester and we want our students to finish strong. Please read this entire newsletter, because we have made important changes. This class has made great strides academically, but we still have a long way to go. This is the moment to challenge your son/daughter and I will be doing the same in class. Lets Go OLG!

Grades & Getting Ready for 4th Gr.

Students will be expected to put forth their best effort. We must Raise the Bar! They are continuing to learn a great deal. Please remind students of the severity of not turning in their work. Practice their multiplication tables with them and have them spend time reading at home. They must study for exams to do well.

Accelerated Reading Program

When we retested students on their AR reading levels using STAR testing, their levels jumped up quite a bit since December. It was a big leap forward for most, and a great testimony for helping them understand just how important the 3rd grade year is. They are amazed at the progress they have made. Please keep in mind that they should be testing less due to the length of their new chapter books.

Behavior & Discipline

Students are expected to still stay in their seats and raise their hand to answer questions. They are not allowed to shout out, unless stated by their teacher. We have also made new rules for the playground and lunch areas. They are fully aware of the new rules and are expected to be respectful, caring, Christians. Consequences will be issued for disrespect.

Im so proud of this class!

I just wanted to thank you for your support at home. Your support means the world to me and Ive been so proud of the progress from this class. They are so bright and kind. Your sons and daughters wrote me the most beautiful notes during Catholic Schools Week and Valentines Day as well. I have been so touched by their loving hearts and the amazing families here at OLG. I am so proud of their achievements, but more so of their kind, caring
