Instructions: Step 1: Answer the following questions. Step 2 (Quizzing Yourself): After you have answered the questions, quiz yourself by asking yourself the question and answering without looking up the answer. Next, check your answer with your class notes and the book. If you have been able to answer the question correctly without looking up the answer, you should move on to the next question. If you were unable to answer the question correctly without looking up the answer, you should requiz yourself in the same manner. Repeat this process for each question. Step 3: Repeat Step 2 for brief periods of time every day until the test. Please note the following: 1. I will test you on the topics below in addition to questions that come directly from the BVT Lab assignments. 2. There will be application questions to challenge you to apply your knowledge rather than just repeat it back. When studying, please come up with examples of concepts and terms. This will help you make sure you dont just know the definition so that you can identify an example of that concept or term on the test. 3. I truly believe that ALL of the information and concepts covered are important (and that is one reason you complete the BVT Lab assignments). However, in order to maximize your study efforts in addition to the studying that you have already done through the BVT Lab assignments, please make sure you know the answers to the following questions for the test. Chapter 5 1. Be able to define and identify examples of the following key terms: a. Reciprocal inhibition b. Homeostasis c. Diathesis-stress model 2. How does the body respond to a stressor (i.e., what nervous system or systems are involved and how?) 3. Can the bodys system to regulate the stress response be compromised? 4. What are the 4 major influences on the impact of a stressor/the magnitude of the stress response? a. What is causes worse outcomes for each? 5. What impact can stress have on coronary health, immune functioning, and other conditions? 6. Is it possible to classically condition immunosuppression? 7. What mental health disorders can severe stress lead to?
