Has required course & speed information been exchanged and understood? Are engines controlled by revolutions? Has area traffic (shipping) been checked? Are navigational signals displayed? Are accommodation doors and ports closed? Is firefighting and anti-pollution equipment checked/ready to use? Is adequate lighting available especially overside in vicinity of fenders? Are hand torches to be used of an approved type? Have portable transciever sets been tested and are they intrinsically safe? Is power on winches and windlass? Are mooring gangs in position? Have communications been established with mooring gangs? Have other ships been advised that this checklist has been completed in the affirmative? CHECK REMARK

Have method of approach and mooring and unmooring procedure been agreed and decision taken? Is ship upright and at suitable trim? Have engines, steering gear, controls and navigational equipment been tested/found in good order? Is chief engineer briefed on engine requirements? Have weather forecasts for transfer area been obtained? Has hose lifting equipment been checked and found ready for use? Are manifold connections ready and marked? Have hose been checked and found to be in good order? Have fenders and handling equipment been checked and found to be in good order? Is anchor on opposite side to transfer made ready for dropping? Are navigational signals ready? Are mooring lines ready both fore and aft? Are mooring winches in good order? Are messengers, stoppers, heaving lines in place and ready for use? Has crew been briefed on mooring methods? Has a contingency plan been prepared/agreed? Have the authorities been advised? Has navigational warning been broadcast? Has other ship advised that Check List No.1 completed in the affirmative?

Has topping-off rate been agreed with other ship? Are scuppers effectively plugged and drip trays in position? Have hoses been tested after connection? Are hoses suspended efficiently? Are sea and overboard discharge valves of cargo system tightly closed and sealed? Are tools located at manifold ready for rapid disconnecting? Are air conditioning intakes which may permit the entry of cargo vapours closed? Are fire axes in position fore and aft? Are all unused manifold connections closed blanked? Is firefighting and anti-pollution equipment checked and ready? Is the agreed tank venting system being used? Is inert gas sytem operating? Is radio station closed down and are aerials earthed (grounded) where necessary? Has other ship been advised that this check list has been completed in the affirmative?
