Evolva and Roskilde University Center (Department of Science, Systems and Models) seek a highly qualified PhD candidate for a challenging research program. YEAST CELL FACTORY PLATFORM FOR THE SCREENING AND THE INDUSTRIAL PRODUCTION OF FLAVONOIDS AND OTHER PHENOLIC COMPOUNDS

The PhD position is offered as a joint effort of Evolva and RUC. Formally, the employment will be with Evolva. Job description We seek skilled molecular biologists to work within a team of other biologists and chemists on some of our development projects. The project involves cutting-edge metabolic engineering for the biosynthesis of valuable small molecules by yeast.

Required skills and experience: Recent MSc. in yeast genetics or physiology, molecular biology, metabolic engineering, synthetic biology or similar Good to excellent academic grades Experience in the biology and manipulation of S. cerevisiae is a must Experience with broad range of DNA technologies, genetic transformation, clone verification, sequencing, growth experiments etc. Experience on the analysis and purification of polyphenols by HPLC Experience and practical knowledge on evaluating the mode of action of polyphenols or other small molecules Experience with microbiology, biochemistry, protein expression, protein engineering, flux-analysis and/or use of robotics is an advantage Experience in metabolic engineering of microorganisms is an advantage Experience from the industry is an advantage
