Saguday is a known producer of sorbetes (dirty ice cream) in the province. There are 8 existing household member producers of Rizal RIC and employs about 24 individuals. These producers are located in one area/zone of barangay Rizal, Saguday, Quirino. Products include pinipigflavored ice cream, buko, cheese and combination of these flavors. These products are uniquely made of coconut milk and being peddled by

sorbeteros within the municipality and neighboring towns like Cabarroguis, Diffun and Aglipay. It is served with small wafer or sugar cones and more recently, bread buns. With the current trend on healthy food production, the association would like to enhance their product into veggie/fruttisorbetes to give more nutritive value and attract nutrition conscious patrons. Moreso, they will have greater opportunity to be better, be different and their presence be felt in the market place. For the above reasons, the group needs additional equipment for this project. Objective Create 10 new MSMEs Develop new products Improve productivity Generate employment Increase investments and income The project will be managed by the elected officers and members of the organization. A project manager will be assigned to oversee the operation of the SSF Project and a Manual of Operation will be prepared for the smooth operation of the project. The production of ice cream will be household type. A total of 10 members will make sorbets in their own household and each member is required to adopt the good manufacturing practices (GMP). The association is also enjoined to participate in various fairs and exhibit to promote the products and ice cream carts will be provided for them better product presentation. Likewise, they will also use the carts during invitation to parties and other occasions. Salvacion RIC considered food processing as a profitable business in their locality. Raw materials available include tamarind, mango, pineapple and other fruits. To date, the group is producing tamarind candy only with limited production volume satisfying orders of some school canteens, sari-sari stores and LGU-Saguday employees. With their desire to improve their project into a village level, the group decided to avail of the SSF project of DTI to improve their productivity. Likewise, expansion of product lines like mangorind and pinyarind and other food products like veggie/frutti cookies/bars/tarts and baked peanuts is considered. These products will be sold to identifiedpasalubong/display centers in Quirino and other market alternatives. Members will go into the planting of additional tamarind trees to sustain the source of raw materials in the locality. The LGU is very supportive to this kind of enterprise.
