Paraguay An economic Overview

Shadrach James Econ 10/17/2013

Paraguay gained its independence from Spain in 1811. How they got there independence was they were in war with three other of South America countries. Three of the countries that were at battle which names were Brazil, Argentina, and Uruguay. In this battle Paraguay had lost two thirds of adult males and some of it territory. Paraguay most common language and that have been around for 1,000 years old is Guarani, an Indian speaking language. Paraguay in 2009 was found to have about 6.5 million people. Paraguay capital and the biggest city of Paraguay is Asuncion which nearly hold a third of Paraguays population. The first settlements were by the Spaniards in the 16th century which were young men and women who followed. The Spanish intermarried with native people which mixed all these cultures, they generally spoke what there mothers main languages were because the cultures were mixed. Paraguay GDP is $41.55 billion; comparison to the world is 101. The boarder around Paraguay which is Argentina and the GDP of Argentina is 755.3 billion. Another country that boarders Paraguay is Brazil and there GDP is in flying colors, The GDP of Brazil is 2,394 trillion. Paraguay is high in GDP because its surrounded by countries where there population is way bigger and has more space in there country. The U.S GDP is 15.94 trillion; Paraguay comparing it to the U.S is pretty low. The population is small but it would all because if the population between the two countrys. The GINI coefficient of Paraguay is ranked at number 9. The income of the family is 56.8 % which is pretty high because less than half of there population of the country is at least wealthy and the other half are very poor or at least dont pay for there taxes. Paraguay is a small

country and is very small in population and very wealthy. As small as there country is they do get some good income from the government and family income. Paraguay is very different than the other countries in there regions because they are a lot smaller than the countries in South America. The population is different because of the land where people are all no crowded but have some room. In the bigger countries in South America have more land to give people to live in but the majority of the population is pretty much in the capital city because of the Job opportunities that they provide for the people .Paraguay unemployment rate is from 6 to 9 percent of there country that have no jobs. People who are unemployed are people who need a job and they don't have jobs for people. Paraguay population is about 6.5 million of peoples and 8 percent of them don't have jobs and there not very wealthy. Paraguay is a small country in South America so people have hardly any work that they can provide for the people. Comparing the U.S unemployment rate to Paraguay they are about the same but the U.S range is 7 percent of the populations dont have jobs. The reason is because the United States is overpopulated. Paraguay unemployment rate is like a roller coaster because it goes from being really high And then goes low. The reason for this because Paraguay government would shut down businesses that are not paying there depth and when it is done a new business has taken over.

Paraguay natural resources that they have are electricity. They spend at least 55.41billion of dollars every year. They do no use that much every year because people have no electricity in their homes. The main capital city uses two third of the electricity of Paraguay, because it is more wealthy than its surrounding city's. Paraguay main natural resources are it's forest, fertile soil, mineral deposit, the most important to there resources is there rivers because it is used for

paths and for business to ship whatever is needed. Another part why the river is important is because it is use for fishing for the people who live next to the river. The people who do live by the river is that there jobs and how they make money is that they would catch fish a sell it. Paraguay farming is like the secondary of there natural resources are the agricultural product. The agriculture products that they have are cotton, sugarcane, corn, soybeans, potatoes, bandanna, oranges, wheat, beans, and tobacco are some of the products that Paraguay make there money and how they provide food for there country. Paraguay livestock breeding is also a major occupation. There is also some of the gases that are also very important and play an important role in the economy. Some of them are petroleum, natural gas, iron, manganese, bauxite, and other minerals that they sell to other countries and also for there on country to use for whatever or whenever they need it. Paraguay labor force the last time it was recorded in 2010 which it could be different for the next three years. The recorded data in 2010 for labor for was 3,088,802.88. This labor force was for people who are 15 of age and older who meet the international Labour organization definition of the economically active people for the country. It included employed and unemployed for the labor force for all people who help with the production and services that the people do. The people that generally do labor forces would be the people who are in the armed forces. The unemployed, the first time job seekers, and the homemakers, and other unpaid givers who all support the country of Paraguay. The unemployment rate from ages 15-24 is about 17.8 and 9.7 percent of male and 13 percent of them are women. Paraguay employs 31 percent of the labor force for the people. Paraguay country is an importer, Paraguay imports all there good from getting them driven from there boarder states such as Brazil, Argentina, and Uruguay but not so much from

Uruguay because they are not really that much of an exporting country because they are also a country that gets imports. Paraguay can be an export country as well because they export the agriculture to country around them if they need the goods that Paraguay is in need for. Paraguay Imports vehicles, consumer goods, tobacco, petroleum products, electrical machinery, tractors and chemicals lead the import list and soybeans, feed, cotton, meat, edible oils, electricity wood and leather are major exports from other countries. They can also produce this types of agriculture themselves but when they sell they can buy more of what they sold for more and a lot cheaper price from other countries because they can produce more than Paraguay. The difficult things that Paraguay faces is the less population in there country because they have no labor for there people have to keep there family wealthy. They will over come it by making it easier for people to stay healthy and also creating more businesses for people to own and to work for. I liked reaching this country because now I get to know more about the country and also I was pretty cool to see what is going on in the country. Its also cool because it made me think about how the land was so small and comparing the numbers to U.S.A because were such a way bigger country than Paraguay.
