To you, our beloved family and friends... To you, who have prayed for and with us throughout these more than 60 years... even before we arrived in Brazil on March 28,1948... we send greetings and our appreciation!!
We have been blessed these oast six months with opportunities to eniov
travel, ves.^. and tu he insnired through attending 4he World^Conventionrof Churches of Christ in England and seeing friends from around the world. We visited Scotland and Ireland... and in Germany visited Sofia,
a cousin of Lloyd David's mother (Nabholz) in Ravensburgh...(just day before yesterday, Jeorge ,a nephew of Sofie, telephoned from Germany and he and Ruth had an interesting visit speaking German... he is coming to Recife and wants to visit Starla and Kid's Place)...Also while in Germany, we stayed two days with Dr. Scott Caulley and the Insitute of Origins of the Christian Church in Tubingen. In November, 2004, we participated in the National Convention of
Brazilian Churches of Christ in G^iania, Goias and then spent three days
resting in Caldas Novas, Gjoias (Hot Springs). In January this year, we spent 12 enjoyable days in Recife, Pernambuco (Northeast BrazU) with Starla Joy, Luiz Carlos and their daughter, Kalinka and family... visiting churches and Kid's Place. It was heart-warming to see the children brought off the streets and from sniffing glue to be able again to relate to their families, to be fed, clothed,
taught... many coming to Christ. Starla and Luiz Carlos are asking for prayer for these children and iheh: parentsJThey are also askingfor prayer for their Livingand ServiceLinkneeds. Prayer is also neededfor the
construction oftheir new building!
In February, it was Youth Congress in Silvania, Goias where 51 years ago, Lloyd David, Ruth, Starla Joy two years old & Nivalci (also two years old, daughter of a leper, waiting for us to find her a Christian home...which we did nearly a year later) stayed three months in the hotel while we were opening a new work. Fifty one years ago, Silvania was a completely Catholic town of some 1,800 population. We had heard that missionaries and persons of color were not allowed to stay over night in town. It was formerly a gold mining area, but when the gold ran out, the
town continued with a Monastery for priests and nuns and all schools
were under their supervision. Today, there is a population of 18,000... two Christian Churches and a couple of evangelical churches.
There were over 3000 voung people at the Congress.. We went with the eleven car caravan of voung people from Brasilia and these 40 voung people treated us like loving grandchildren all through the Congress...
couldnT do enough for us. Several other bus loads of young people went
from the Federal District, Goiania, Sao Paulo and other areas.
As to March and the future, we are continuing in our voluntary ministries... Lloyd David, though slowed down to lower gears, serves in
an honorary position as president of church board. He leads a ^should be
married'' cell group in a new suburb. Several "living together" couples have made their decision to marry. He continues to keep a deposit of Bibles for sale or distribution. He is also working with some business men for helping to set up "Christian technical schools", suppl3dng new jobs
and opening new cities to new churches in these schools.

Dear Supporters of Brazil Christian Mission; This is a personal plea from the Board of Directors asking for your IMMEDIATE help with personal funds for Starla and Luiz Azevedo. We do not understand just how this came about but through her generous heart, Starla has borrowed money from loan sharks to help her family and is now going to loose her car and have the utilities turned off at her apartment. The Azevedo's are in desperate need of $20,000.00 immediately to pay off these debts. We are asking you to once again help us to meet this need. Starla asked for us to get a loan so she could pay this off, but she has nothing for collateral for a note. The only thing we know to do is ask for your help. Starla is always willing to help anyone that needs help, even when she has to borrow money to help them. We have tried to impress on her that she can only spend what she has on hand. We, as the board, do not have the funds to give her what she needs. Our church, Anthony Christian, will do what we can, but we are asking if the rest of you will help us meet this need. Together we hope to raise the $20,000.00 needed. Hopefully there will be some individuals that can make a major donation or an unsecured loan for some of this amount. With the economy as it is now we can only hope
for a miracle at this time.
Starla sent a very depressing e-mail last week-end. She has 4 families depending on her for support. The director of Kids Place was badly burned in a home accident and will not be able to work at BCids Place for a time. Starla is juggling hinds there to cover
the bills due 10/01/05 at Kids Place.
Please, plea^help us find thefunds to get Starla out ofthis terrible situation. D^d and Ruth Sanders^e in the United States at this time, trying to raise personal
support for Starla, but that won't be in time for this EMERGENCY. We also ask for your prayers that funds my be found quickly to take care of
Starla's financial problems. We sincerely appreciate your continued support and prayers.
