Numaligarh Refinery was set up at Numaligarh in the district of Golaghat (Assam) in accordance with the provisions made in the historic Assam Accord signed on 15th August 19 5!

Numaligarh Refinery "imited (NR") was incorporated on ## nd April$ 199%! &t has 'een highly appreciated as a vehicle for fast and rapid industrial and economic development of the region! (resently$ )harat (etroleum *orporation "imited holds 51+ of the company,s e-uity! .he other e-uity holders are Government of Assam$ /il &ndustry 0evelopment )oard and /il &ndia "imited with e-uity participation of 11+ each! .he 'alance 19+ e-uity is enmar2ed for a pu'lic issue! .he refining capacity of this refinery is %!1 33.(A! .he following methodology was adopted for the research study; i! (reliminary study; .he study was made through general discussions and formal interviews with various officials of NR"! ii! 0ata collection methodD 0ata collection is the most important part of any Research (ro@ect! &t plays a vital role in fulfilling the research o'@ectives! &n this study$ (rimary 0ata collection method is used! A structured -uestionnaire was developed under the supervision of e9perienced supervisor$ who helped me to e9tract detailed information with the aim of fulfilling the research o'@ective and

further information are collected from previous reports$ we'sites$ NR" @ournals etc! these are the 5econdary 0ata! iii! 0ata sources ; Responding to this survey is mandatory! 0ata are collected directly from survey respondents and e9tracted from administrative files! .he -uestionnaires used in the survey have 'een designed to minimi7e different interpretation! .he survey forms were filled tested with respondents to ensure the -uestions$ concepts and terminology were appropriate! 5ignificant effort is spent trying to minimi7e non4response during collection! 3ethods used$ among others$ are interviewer techni-ues such as pro'ing and persuasion$ repeated re4scheduling and call4'ac2s to o'tain the information$ and procedures dealing with how to handle non4complaint (refusal) respondents 'est estimates are also accepted! iv! Nature of research; 0escriptive Research design is used for the study!

0escriptive research as the name suggests is designed to descri'e something E for e9ample the characteristics of users of a given productD the degree to which product used varies with income$ age$ se9$ or other characteristicsD or the num'er who saw a specific television commercial! .o 'e of ma9imum 'enefit$ a descriptive study must only collect data for a definite purpose! .his pro@ect study is related with the 863AN R?5/6R*? A**/6N.&NG$ so the data is collected in this regard only! v! 5ampling method; 5ampling method used in this research is simple random sampling and convenience$ which also 2nown as non4 pro'a'ility sampling! vi! sample si7e; .he sample si7es for the survey are the e9isting e9ecutives > head of the department of 8uman Resource 3anagement! .he total nos! of respondents is #1!

As with any e9ploratory research the findings of this study are to 'e accepted with several limitations! 5ince limitations of the study can 'e viewed as directions for future research 5ome of the information a'out the respective department was not disclosed 'y the e9ecutives as they don,t possess much ideas regarding those issues! *ertain data was provided 'y the officers from the memories$ so certain omission and commission might 'e there! .he difference in perception of the e9ecutives may 'e a ma@or constrain!

.he time duration for completing the research study was limited! Organi/ational Re0triction0; .here were restrictions on the supervisor and on the respondents to very much clear all the process and policies! No organi7ation discloses all the selection
