Former Campbell High student Chuck Neild, who
during his Cougar athletic career donned the red-and-
white uniforms of the baseball, basketball and football
teams, came back to his old stomping grounds on Monday,
March 25. This time he was wearing a different color
uniform: the gray and black representing the United States
Military Academy at West Point.
A former captain on the gridiron as well as president
of the CHS Class of 2012, Neild is in his second year
(affectionately referred to as a Yuk) and continues to
show his leadership qualities; majoring in chemistry and
undergoing military training as he prepares to enter the
army as a commissioned ofcer (2nd Lieutenant) when he
graduates in 2016.
His brief return home was not all R&R. The admissions
ofce has a program for us to go around to high schools
and inform people about West Point, explained Neild.
As part of his extended leave from duties at The Academy,
Neild made a couple of appearances in CHS classrooms
which included a description of the educational as well
as military opportunities West Point offers, followed by a
question-and-answer session.
The rst class he addressed was that of Mr. Ballous, and
in attendance, by chance, was Chucks sister, Hannah.
He then visited a classroom under the auspices of social
studies teacher Dennis Perreault and English teacher Erin
Brown where he engaged in a more interactive exchange
with several students as well as with Perreault, Brown and
other teachers in the room at the time. Theyre about
as good as you can get, reected Neild of Perreault and
Brown, adding; they work really well together.
Based out of the Guidance Department ofce, his visit
was epitomized by a constant stream of former classmates
and teachers, greeting him in the hallways, welcoming
him back as well as thanking him for his service to the
country. After his brief one-day stint at CHS, Neild was
scheduled to spend the next day speaking on behalf of
The Academy to students at Manchester West and Nashua
North. Outside of those military obligations, he admitted
he was just hanging out at home and meeting with old
friends.
Its very challenging, revealed Neild of the West Point
experience, adding; thats why I chose to go there its
pretty unique. According to Neild, cadets are graded
on three pillars of education: academics, physical
performance and military leadership, where he is currently
ranked about 300th in a class of nearly 1,100 cadets.
Its really rare for someone to be great in all areas, he
admitted.
Upon graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree, he
is obligated to serve ve years in the Army followed by a
subsequent three years in the reserves. With respect to
leaving his audience with a few thoughts and observations
from his experience thus far, Neild admitted that he is
now more accountable and focused than he was in high
school, and that he believed that being a sport captain
on the diamond and gridiron helped him the most with
respect to advancing his leadership skills at The Academy.
In saying to students apply yourself now, Neild
encouraged them to be involved in extracurricular
activities such as sports, class ofce, boys and girls state,
Boy Scouts, community service and alike. When asked if
he had any regrets about his decision to attend West Point,
the revered Campbell graduate replied without hesitation,
Nope, Im in a good place. And with ne young men
such as Charles Thomas Neild III training to become our
future military leaders, so too, is the United States of
America in a good place.

Returns to Campbell

The Hudson Grange 11 and the Hudson
Historical Society joined forces on Tuesday,
March 25, when they featured guest speaker
Steve Taylor, as he spoke to a substantial
gathering at the Wattanick Grange on the
appropriate topic of The History of the
Grange Movement. Introducing Taylor was
State Representative Robert Haefner (R), who
also serves as the overseer at the Hudson
Grange as well as a director at the Historical
Society.
In his introduction, Haefner indicated that
Taylor was a former New Hampshire state
commissioner of agriculture for 25 years.
Fittingly so, and as Haefner pointed out in
his opening remarks; Today is National
Agriculture Day the next time you run into
a farmer, thank him. And as his lecture
would reveal, the Grange historically has
had an integral role in both farming and the
legislature.
Taylor, a former dairy farmer and native
of Plaineld, N.H., gave a captivating
accounting of the Granges evolution as well
as its prominent role in legislative affairs
throughout the years, dating back to 1867.
He revealed that during that time; the
railroad was the catalyst that got the Grange
up and running in the
upper Midwest, resulting
in what became known as
the Granger Laws, featuring
a social dimension that
became very important in
future undertakings.
He went on to describe
the explosion in the
number of Granges in New
Hampshire during the
late 1800s and how they
became a force in public
affairs by the 1890s. Taylor
cited several examples of
how the Grange began
to ex its muscle, and
became actively involved,
to varying degrees, in a
variety of social issues,
including the creation of
free public libraries, taking
a profound interest and
involvement in schools,
Rural Free Delivery (RFD,
1907 including daily
newspaper deliveries),
and the improvement of
highways (including the
creation of a Highway Commissioner to
coordinate what Taylor referred to as the
arterial system of roads.
Additionally, Taylor told of the 1913
establishing of the NH Department of
Agriculture as a means to protect farmers
against unscrupulous suppliers of grain,
fertilizer and alike. He also gave an
anecdotal accounting of how the
White Mountain National Forest
was established (an interesting story
to research) the Grange was
right in the middle of that, offered
Taylor.
Involved in so many important
social changes through the years,
the one that Taylor revealed as
most impactful was the role the
Grange played as it related to the
Rural Electrication Administration.
The Grange was instrumental in
pushing through legislation in
New Hampshire that created an
entity capable of receiving the
available federal funding that
facilitated providing electricity
to rural areas. In 1939 the rst
pole was erected in NH and
according to Taylor; by 1948, 96
percent of farms had electricity.
In closing, he addressed the fall
off in membership beginning
in the 1950s; citing prominent
reasons such as a shift to non-farm
employment, better roads, better
automobiles along with the advent
of the television.

790-787. Prior to the recount the tally was 786-781.
Litcheld had to reschedule Fridays recount because the State
Attorney Generals ofce said petitioner Tom Schoeld had the
right to be present and was not notied.
Town Clerk/Tax Collector Terri Briand said she followed the law
to a T, and if the state disagrees, they need to change or clarify

Republican Town Hall Meetings Get Underway
by Marc Ayotte
Republican Congressional candidate Marilinda Garcia
appeared at a Hudson business on Wednesday, March
18, in the rst of a planned series of town hall meetings.
Bryan Donovan, who is the chairman of the Hudson
Republican Committee, emceed the event which was
hosted by Jack Gilchrist, owner of the long-time Hudson
business, Gilchrist Metal Fabricating.
Garcia, who is currently serving in the House of
Representatives and is considered to be a rising star
for the GOP, shared her platform with a small group of
Hudson residents after returning from an early morning
appearance on the television show, FOX & friends.
Garcia was elected to the New Hampshire House
of Representatives in 2006 at the young age of 23 and
was most recently elected to her fourth term in 2012;
currently serving on the nance committee.
Among the many topics that she addressed at the town hall meeting was the issue
of health care. The money spent for premiums and quality of service are not properly
linked noted Garcia, adding that health care should be better, for more people, and at
a lower cost. That is what we should be seeking to do.
After addressing several topics, Garcia took part in a brief question-and-answer
session with questions ranging from the business climate in New Hampshire to the 2nd
amendment. Regarding the former, she is a proponent of keeping the federal government
from being an obstacle to personal development, saying that she wants to keep New
Hampshire at a higher standard of living and as friendly to each residents pocketbook.
According to Donovan, the Hudson Republican Committee will be hosting its next
town hall meeting on April 16 when 2nd Congressional District candidate Gary Lambert
will be on hand. On May 21, Karen Testerman, who will by vying for the Republican
nomination to oppose Senator Jeanne Shaheen, will be the guest. The committee meets
on the third Wednesday of every month at 7 p.m. at the Hudson VFW.
Second Congressional candidate Marilinda Garcia spoke
about health care at a town hall meeting hosted by Jack
Gilchrist, owner of Gilchrist Metal Fabricating, left,
and sponsored by the Hudson Republican Committee,
Chairman Bryan Donovan, right.

A Special Treat for Hudson Seniors
by Lori Bowen
I know it has been a while since I have written; Im sorry! I
havent been hibernating, even thought this cold weather makes
you want to. I have been busy organizing activities and getting the
center ready to be opened.
There is a public session at the Board of Selectmen meeting on
April 22 about the items that are being donated so far by the Council
on Aging to the Town of Hudson to outt the new Senior Center.
If you would like to watch it on television please tune into the
government channel.
It looks like the opening is going to be closer to the end of May,
and if we get any more substantial snow it could be later. We need
the ground to thaw out so that the sidewalks can be added to the
outside of the buildings. This will include the ramp systems that
are going to be used to get in and out of the building. Guard rails
and fencing still need to be installed, and the parking lot needs
another coat of tar and lines painted on it. Once all these things are
nalized, we will be able to open the doors and welcome everyone
in!
A committee has been established to work on an open house for
the community so we can all celebrate the opening of this beautiful
barn that this town has built. There are so many people to thank
for so many reasons. Over the last almost 40 years, the Hudson
Council on Aging has been raising money through fundraising efforts
amongst the senior population. They have also had community
involvement in raising these funds. This money that has been raised
is being used to furnish the building, so there is no tax impact on the
community. This is very important to the Seniors as they take great
pride in the fact that they are able to do this.
Part of the work behind the scenes that I have been doing is
creating an activity plan to keep our patrons minds and bodies
healthy. I have secured a Yoga instructor, Tai Chi instructor, Zumba
Gold instructor, and am working on a few other exercise activities
to work the body. In my research I have come across research that
shows the more bending, twisting and moving you do in your day,
especially over the age of 50, increases your brain activity. Some
studies have even shown a decrease in brain diseases if you do cross
body movements. This is such exciting news. On the crafty side of
things I am organizing different activities to enhance your artistic
side. I have also been on the hunt for educational avenues, such as
learning new things and giving back through education of others.
As we get closer to opening, some registration opportunities will
be available at the Community Center. When these have been
ofcially scheduled we will post the dates and times so everyone has
an opportunity to pre-register. This will help once the center is open,
you can just walk in and enjoy!
We have added to our current activities during the week, and
you are more than welcome to come join us any time on Tuesday,
Wednesday or Thursday. We are at the Community Center on Lions
Ave from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Tuesdays coffee club is growing by leaps and bounds! We have
made so many new friends who have stopped by to meet people and
see what we are up to. There is always an open invitation to join us
on Tuesdays for coffee; well even take you if you dont drink coffee!
I want to thank our Town Administrator Steve Malizia and the
Town Finance Director Kathy Carpetier for stopping by to visit with
us before voting day. It was so nice of you to come answer questions
and listen to the concerns. You both did a great job in educating our
Seniors on the town budget and warrant articles.
I would also like to thank Mr. Bryan Lane for joining us for
coffee club before voting to educate us on the items on the school
ballots. This was so helpful, and the participants in the round table
discussion were grateful that you were able to answer their questions
and were so knowledgeable on the state education laws and how
they are being integrated in the Hudson school system.
If you have any questions you can always stop by and see Lori.
She is always around on Tuesdays at the Community Center.

Two Extricated by Firefghters at Motor Vehicle Crash
submitted by David S. Morin, HFD Public Information Liaison
On March 23, at approximately noon, Hudson reghters
responded to the area of 291 Central Street for a report of a roll-
over motor vehicle crash with entrapment. Upon arrival, re crews
located a pickup truck off the roadway. The vehicle had run off of
the road and had come to land on the drivers side with the roof of
the vehicle resting against a granite ledge.
The occupants of the vehicle were found trapped inside the
vehicle. Due to the position of the vehicle the rescue proved to be
difcult as reghters had to access the trapped occupants through
the windshield which was against the ledge. Fireghters were able
to extricate the victims using Sawzalls and other cutting equipment
within 37 minutes of their arrival. One occupant sustained non-
life threatening injuries and was transported to the Southern New
Hampshire Medical Center for treatment by Hudson Fire Department
ambulance. The second occupant was released from the scene
without injury.
Hudson Police identied the occupants as Cindy Newell, 53, and
Stephen Woodhouse, 48, both of Sandown.
Responding to the scene were one engine, one ambulance, one
rescue and two command vehicles staffed by 10 re personnel from
the Central and Burns Hill Fire stations. The Nashua Fire Department
sent an engine to cover the Hudson Central Fire Station while
Hudson crews worked the scene.

A Mindless Society, Weve Become
Americans in general and in Hudson for sure, have become that Mindless
Society that we were predicted to become; decades ago. Most Americans no
longer care that our government continues to ignore the needs of its own
citizens, while it wages wars in far of countries and is now interfering in
even more foreign countries afairs; like in the Ukraine, Egypt, Syria, and so
on, when our country is in huge foreign debt to the Communist country of
China.
On Saturday the 22nd, I again saw another mindless American get out
of his car while talking on his cell phone and without frst looking, he steps
out right into the path of an oncoming vehicle; almost being hit. Ten he
shouts at the driver of the other vehicle and gives him the fnger.
We are that Mindless Society that drinks while driving, running red lights
and stop signs, showing no patience with or compassion to wait, for an
elderly or disabled person to cross a street; and instead drives around them,
often coming so close to those persons just to intimidate them to move
faster.
We are surely a Mindless Society that is obvious with how we put up with
a political party system that controls this country and is the whore of the
wealthy elites; who sacrifce their own country for their own personal greed.
A Mindless Society demands nothing from, it waits for what is given by,
and what is done in their name; by their government. In New Hampshire,
the Mindless Society does nothing about the states huge expansion of its
state sponsored Liquor Store System; while it constantly diverts funds set
aside for alcohol and drug abuse treatment programs for its citizens; to be
used for other purposes. Te entire State of New Hampshire government,
to include its governor, its executive council, and its legislature is nothing
more than another version of a drug cartel or street corner dealer; they are
all morally unft to govern for all of NHs citizens. Im sure most of NHs
citizens think so what and do not think about drunk driving deaths and
injuries, as well as how many families are destroyed. To me, that shows a
very low quality of life in New Hampshire.
Jerry Gutekunst, Hudson
Getting out and Voting Matters
We want to thank you for getting out and voting. While some of you
may not have voted yes for the frefghters contract we do appreciate you
getting out to vote. For those who voted yes, thank you from the bottom
of our hearts. Tis contract has no cost of living increases for those who
protect this great town, it more appropriately separates the supervisors from
their subordinates, corrects language issues, and provides appropriate pay for
new increased skills. Tese increased emergency medical skills will provide
a higher level of care to our residents and those who visit the area. More
importantly we have taken increased fnancial responsibility of our health
care cost decreasing the towns responsibility.
Tank you again.

Recycle Electronics on April 5
with Cub Scout Pack 21
submitted by Ben Dibble
The boys in Cub Scout Pack 21 will hold their rst Electronics
Recycling day on April 5 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. This annual event
will be held at the Hudson Recreation Building at 2 Oakwood
St., near the H.O. Smith School. A wide variety of items will
be accepted for a small fee to be recycled. This is a signicant
discount from using the local trash company. The recycling will
be handled by Recycle USA of Londonderry, a well-known and
respected recycler of electronics.
The Cubs will be accepting old computers, digital cameras, air
conditioners, humidiers, laptops, play systems like old XBOXs,
and more. Dont allow these items to pollute our environment.
Clean out the basement & garage of old computers and electronics
and help the Cub Scouts raise money for Summer Camp. Who
doesnt have an old TV or CD player in a box somewhere?
Here are some of the items being accepted, and their cost:
computer $5, monitor $10, at panel monitor $6, laptop $5, printer
$4, TV (25 inches or smaller) $14, TV (27-32 inches) $25, TV (32
inches and up) $30, air conditioner/dehumidier $16. All other
items are less than $5 to recycle. For example: CD/DVD player/
burner $4, XBOX/PlayStation/WII $4. (Non-acceptable items are
full sized appliances, space heaters, and lights/light bulbs.)
At the event the boys and families will be learning about
recycling and how it benets our environment. For example, old
tube TVs can contain lead, which is bad for people and animals.
Likewise, air conditioners and dehumidiers contain older Freon,
which contributes to the hole in the ozone layer. These boys want
a great, clean planet to grow and play in. The saying goes, We
do not own the earth; we are just stewards of the planet for our
children.
If you have questions about what is accepted, call Kathy at 339-
7963.
Cub Scout Pack 21 is based at Hills Garrison School and serves
that community of families. They plan to use the proceeds to
enable boys to attend summer camp, and to enjoy other outside
activities, like hiking and trips. Their website is http://hudson21.
mypack.us. For additional information on Boy Scouts in the Nashua
area, contact Ben Dibble at 880-2077 or Jack Gaylord at 289-0378
or jgayloard@bsamail.org.

Women Softball League during regular business hours at the Hudson Recreation

Wacky Songs that Made Us Laugh. Popular songs with
humorous lyrics have kept us laughing since Colonial
times. We need comic relief, and songs provide some of
the best (sometimes unintentionally). Excerpts from hilarious
songs help chart the evolution of musical humor from the 1920s
to the 1980s. Selections poke fun at World War II enemies, diets,
television, sex, Christmas, summer camp, religion, and many other
aspects of life. Laugh as you recall wacky moments from the past
and discover new ones with Calvin Knickerbocker, an independent
scholar who has developed and taught courses on American musical
history - from big bands, to folk music. In conjunction with the NH
Humanities Council, he travels the state presenting similarly themed
programs, and he has taught at RISE, Nashuas Rivier Institute for
Senior Education, since 1999. Program is made possible by a New

A Hudson resident for the last 25 years, I will be contributing
regular stories on weather and energy issues of concern to New
Hampshire residents in general and HLN readers in particular.
I will provide information you probably wont read in the
mainstream media.
There are unreported changes underway in the climate and
politics on a national and state level that will have a major impact
on your familys economic future you need to be aware of. I have
always considered myself an environmentalist and conservationist,
but the environmental organizations and our universities have
been taken over by radical elements that do not have your best
interests in mind.
As co-founder of Greenpeace and a PhD Ecologist Patrick
Moore told the U.S. senate, It is a powerful convergence of
interests among a very large number of elites, including politicians
who want to make it seem as though theyre saving the world;
environmentalists who want to raise money and get control
over very large issues like our entire energy policy; media, for
sensationalism; and universities and professors for grants. You
can hardly get a science grant these days without saying it has
something to do with climate change.
It is a kind of nasty combination of extreme political ideology
and a religious cult all rolled into one, and its taken over way too
much of our thought process and way too much of our priorities.
I will prove that to you with climate facts, their own words and
published plans. I will also mix in interesting climate facts about
recent seasons and forecast the upcoming seasons. For example,
did you know, in the last 20 years, winter temperatures in all nine
U.S. climate regions have declined (an average of 2.26F for the
U.S.). Here in the Northeast winters have cooled 1.2F. This past
winter was the coldest ever in many north central locations and
even the third coldest since 1879 in Chicago. Joe Bastardi and I
at Weatherbell forecast this downtrend many years ago and this
particular memorable cold and snowy winter many months in
advance for our 3,600 clients based on the same factors that drive
the longer term climate cycles.
Instead of our climate
becoming more like South
Carolina, the trends would
argue (and we will give
physical reasons why in the
next report), we will become
more like Quebec.
Global temperatures have
not warmed for going on
18 years even as CO2 increased 12 percent. Sea level rises have
dropped in half globally to just 4 inches per century. Global
hurricane activity is at a 30-plus year low. Sandy produced
devastation, but it was barely a CAT 1 storm on landfall. We had
eight major hurricanes hit the east coast from 1938 to 1960. There
were 142 fewer tornadoes in 2013 than any year on record, and,
despite two big res made worse by environmental pushback
on thinning and brush removal, the number of wildres was the
lowest since reliable records began in 1984. We are told we are
seeing rapid increases in heat records, but the state all-time heat
records tell another story. Twenty-three of the 50 occurred in the
1930s, 38 before 1960 and there have been more all-time cold
records than heat records since the 1940s.
The only phenomena that has increased is the one that NOAA,
the IPCC and Union of Concerned Scientists (really environmental
activists) that now occupy our universities said would vanish
snow. In 2007, 2012 and again early this year, they advised the
ski and maple sugar industries and our legislature that the ski
and sugar industry would die here. 2007-2008 broke records
for the most snow in northern and central New England. Last
year we had the super blizzards of February and March, and this
year is well above normal here and ranking in the top 10 in most
cities from the East to Midwest and even for several locations
from Philadelphia west to Chicago converging on number 1. For
the hemisphere, four of the ve highest snow cover years have
occurred in the last six years.
But instead of admitting to their mistakes (and I have just
presented the tip if the iceberg of failings), they claim whatever
happens is consistent with their theories. They have created a
non-falsiable hypothesis by claiming both sides of every extreme
or possible occurrence, even cooling.
Einstein noted a model or a hypothesis cannot prove anything.
But data can invalidate a hypothesis or model. The case is never
closed. Many experiments may prove me right but it takes only
one to prove me wrong.
If our legislators take the action these environmental activists
here posing as scientists and the politically driven agencies in
DC are pushing, your electric bills and the cost for heating oil
and natural gas and gasoline, which we all felt the pain of this
year, will be much higher come next winter. Europe believed
in the green agenda until unemployment soared, energy
prices skyrocketed and the lights went out. They have stopped
subsidizing renewables, and, in Germany alone, they are building
24 new coal red plants to try and save their economy. The White
House and our own state leaders are ignoring the lessons learned
in Europe at our peril and expense.

AHS Class Act
by AJ Dickinson
Alvirne High Schools Class Act performed The Seussication of
Romeo and Juliet on Friday and Saturday, March 21 and 22. The
hysterical rhyming play which hasnt been performed at AHS in
over ve years was chosen because it introduced Shakespeares
Romeo and Juliet in a fun engaging way. Since Romeo and
Juliet is part of the freshman curriculum it is a great way to get
the students interested in the timeless classic. Mrs. Jennifer
LaFrance, an Alvirne English teacher who assists with Class Act,
reected on how the students hard work paid off by saying,
While most audience members see the actors and think they are
seeing the majority of student work involved in a production, the
scenic, costume, and lighting designs were completely created
and constructed by students, LaFrance explained. The entire
production was in the hands of the students from the curtain
opening to the nal bows. Many of the students involved
were rst-timers, though we had a few veterans in the cast and
crew. Overall, the student collaboration and dedication for this
production was remarkable.
Since Class Act is a self-sustaining
program, all of the proceeds offset the cost of this production
as well as future productions such as Little Shop of Horrors.
Auditions for this next performance will be held on March 26.

Thumbs Up? Thumbs Down? Thumbs Up? Thumbs Down?
Thumbs up to the kids and music
program at the three area schools
in Litcheld! The District Choral
Concert was great, but the nal song,
Africa, was the best I have heard
in my three of years of attending.
Teachers, please keep up the great
work and continue to challenge the
kids while entertaining the audience
with some familiar music. All should
be proud!
Thumbs down to the hit and run
driver who destroyed our mailbox
on Musquash Road the night of
March 18-19. You had to have been
pretty far off the road shoulder to
hit it and smash the 4x4 post. Were
you drunk, texting or racing another
vehicle? You also must have damage
to your vehicle. Would have been
nice if you had identied yourself
by putting a note in the mailbox that
was left in the driveway!
Thumbs down to Jason
Guerrettes letter to the editor. Yes,
Janine Lepore did run a squeaky
clean election, but Jason on the
other hand ran a campaign of deceit.
Candidate Guerrette positioned his
signs so they were next to every
school related sign in town, same
color as a matter of fact. Presumably
the intent was to make the public
think he supported education (he
doesnt). Furthermore, he put an ad
in the HLN that had a website that
made the reader believe it was put
out by the Town of Litcheld (his
name was nowhere to be found on
it). Same deal with the yers he sent
out.
Thumbs up to my husband!
Happy Birthday! Matthew and I love
you very much and wish you the best
Birthday. Thanks for always taking
such good care of me, too.
Thumbs up/Thumbs down.
Calling seniors and taxpayers that
didnt vote for the raises of unions
selsh is really calling the kettle
black. Why is it the unions think
they are entitled to take money out
of some peoples pocket so they
can put in their own? How about
you union types paying more for
healthcare, or giving up vacation
time, living on xed income, and
giving that money back to the town.
Ill bet you wont vote for because
you are the selsh, greedy spoiled
babies.
Thumbs up to my loving wife for
putting up with a grumpy husband while I have been
sick for the last 3 weeks. Additional thanks to Kelly
for swinging by and delivering water and crackers.
Thumbs up to Chrissy at Hudson Rec. It is nice to
have phone calls answered by a friendly voice when
calling a town ofce.
Thumbs down to all the uneducated voters
and non-voters who take to the Thumbs column to
complain about election results. Heres a thought,
get off your lazy backside and either vote or attend
a meeting or two. If you dont want to wait till the
next election, heres another free suggestion. Every
single Hudson department has meetings throughout
the year, why dont you go attend a few meetings and
express your opinion in a manner that might actually
get some type of result. Pouting about results in this
section gets you nothing but laughs and ridicule.
Thumbs down to NH Democrats, and President
Obamas administrations continued failed policies,
during their time in ofce, NH has seen one of the
worst declines in businesss that nobody seems to
want to mention, weve had so many store closings
like Stop and Shop, numerous Shaws stores, now
Osram Sylvania, Staples, Lowes, Ruby Tuesday,
Radio Shack, talks about cutting back at Manchester
Airport and numerous others on the brink of closing,
these are not mom and pop stores these are major
box stores that have closed due to failed Democratic
policies, wake up NH.
Thumbs up/Thumbs down to the ex-Raytheon
worker. Plenty of work out there, but it probably
doesnt pay that overpaid Raytheon worker rate. Just
based on friends that work there. 40 years paying
taxes and still high mortgage, not good! If your taxes
are going up $600-$800, you must have a beautiful
home valued at $600,000-$800,000. I am jealous on
one hand, yet I live within my means. Hope you are
on time paying those overpriced college bills. Time
to sell the mansion - LOL!
Thumbs up to the Litcheld School District
Music and Arts Festival last week! It was great to
see students from all grade levels display their talent.
Thank you to all the dedicated teachers that bring out
the best in the students of our future.
Thumbs up to Kris and her family for moving to
Hudson and nally getting the HLN!
Thumbs down to the person complaining
about buses transporting voters on Election Day.
Frankly, I cant think of a more
appropriate use for public money
in a democracy than aiding and
assisting voters in their public
duty to vote. Democracy works
best when everyones voice is
heard. Lets expand the system
to cover even more people!
Making voting easy should be
the goal of every town, state and
nation. The current political
strategy of putting up roadblocks
to voting, frightening voters with
misinformation, closing polls
early and generally making it
inconvenient to vote is disgusting
and anti-American.
Thumbs down to wrongly
referring to 18 and 19 year old
young adults as children just to
make a political point. How
rude!
Thumbs up to the plow guy who helped pushed
me out of the Taco Bell Londonderry parking lot
on 2/18 after being stuck in the snow for an hour.
Thumbs down to the employees who had no
customers and
just looked out
the window
at me trying
to get out and
never offered to
help. That is the
last time I will
ever be in that
parking lot for
any reason!
Thumbs up.
A big thumbs up
to the woman
who turned
in the lost
wedding band
at the Hudson
Sams Club
on Saturday
March 22.
My husband
recently lost 30
pounds and his
wedding ring
became too
big. We were
both devastated
when we found out that it was
gone. We are so grateful and
thankful to you for your honesty.
Thumbs down to the Hudson
BOS for suggesting another town
election and the new budget
committee for approving a second
election to vote on the town
budget. My question is Why
even hold elections if you feel you
can just redo them until you get
the vote you want? If this is what
you feel free elections are about
... you might as well just do away
with the voting and run our town
government as you see t.
Thumbs down. Mr. Schoeld,
once again you try and cause
trouble in Litcheld. Please
accept the fact that no one in
town truly wants to listen to
anything you have say. I see you
sitting by yourself all the time
at the Northside Grill, that is
because once again know one
wants anything to do with you.
You have had some good people
in your life and now look, they
are gone. And now you are
all alone, that should tell you
something.
Thumbs down to the comment
about moving if the contract
warrant articles were not passed
on March 11. Did you notice
that our emergency personnel
town contract warrant articles
online stated employees would
also receive the appropriate step
increase during the life of the
contract on their anniversary
date? This was not disclosed
on the warrant articles or article
explanation that was sent with
the HLN. To be honest with
you. Also, read the contract if
the contracts were not voted
in. The unions would just
renegotiate them, as stated in the
contract. We wouldnt have lost
all our town personnel. Read the
contracts in full online.
Thumbs down! Most people
were able to afford their home
with plenty of money to spare,
before the-economy crashed.
Well things happen. Residents
lost their jobs, no Social Security
increases, increased Medical
costs, and ination. Some of
the most sought after positions 5
years ago, have no job postings
now. People with PhDs and
masters degrees cannot nd work.
Residents couldnt afford the high
tax increase every year! So they
cut back, by not paying their-taxes.
Guess what? The town put a lien
on their home with Interest. The
town looses revenue and your
taxes go up! Next time vote to
help yourself and your neighbor.
Thumbs down! Do you
think residents can afford these
increases? I have friends with
PhDs and masters degrees who
cannot nd work. I know people
with families who work 80
hours a week to make ends meet
and seniors who live off $1,000 a month. Who is
working to keep our taxes low for these people? Our
BOS/HSB approves every pay increase and they are
out of touch with the residents. There should not be
a pay increases until the majority or residents receive
a pay increase.
Thumbs down - If you want to feel good about
yourself, pull over to the side of the road and pick up
some of the litter thats stuck in the hard snow. If you
want to feel really good about yourself, dont throw
trash out of your car onto our roadways.
Thumbs up to Litchelds state Reps Frank
Byron and Ralph Boehm for having perfect scores
on the roll call up at the state house. You cant be
represented if your representative is a no-show.
Fortunately, this is not a problem for Litcheld.
Thumbs up/Thumbs down. According to the
Sword of the Lord newspaper, Planned Parenthood
took in 540 million dollars of your tax money during
scal year ending June 30, 2013. They also report
that they are the countrys largest abortion provider,
having done 327,166 abortions in this same scal
year. Sword of the Lord newspaper says this is a
tragedy and a moral outrage. I agree.
Thumbs down. Some say Republicans will win in
2016. What record are Republicans running on since
2001? Just what have they done for America and
its people? When I think Republican, I remember
a loss of surplus, the cost of going to war with the
wrong country, leaving folks in hardship and shutting
down government at a cost of $24 billion. When I
take the Republican side on Bangladesh, I nd out
Republicans voted down extra security. Republicans
have many blunders to be accountable for, and want
us to forget. Please help me to forget, and tell me all
about the good stuff since January 2001.
Thumbs down to the woman who got out of her
car at the stop sign at Ferry and Buswell on Sunday
afternoon, 3/23, to walk back to my vehicle to yell at
me for beeping my horn. I was stopped at the stop
sign for 3-4 minutes behind a vehicle that did not
attempt to enter Ferry Street even though there was
no oncoming trafc for at least half that time. She
told me her daughter was just learning to drive and I
could go around if I wanted, although she did not say
it nicely. Next thing I know its posted on Facebook
and I was the jerk. Like I could possibly know it was
a new driver and for a moment I thought it could be
a medical emergency. Mom - you did a great job
introducing your daughter to your own road rage.
Get a professional to teach her how to drive, you
clearly are not qualied!
Thumbs up to the principal at Campbell High
School. Just because someone is a good coach does
not mean he is a good teacher. My son learned
nothing in his health class last year. Just because a
teacher is supportive, doesnt mean he can teach.
Thanks for stepping in.
Thumb down to Chris Pascucci and Tom
Schoeld. First, please to do not speak for the
public, speak for yourself. Your comments on how
to run our town need to go away. Mr. Bourque, you
need to move on, you can do so much better without
Mr. Schoeld.
Thumbs up to Theresa L. Briand Town clerk for
the Town of Litcheld, NH. Your uncooperative and
bad behavior single-handedly gave our great town
a Black eye. I get that you are used to getting your
own way. Well, both the Secretary of State and the
highest ranking law ofcial in the State (the Attorney
General) showed you. I truly hope you learn
and grow from this. The price we are paying as a
community is quite high.
Thumbs down. Way down to our school system.
A very respected teacher and coach will be leaving,
leaving not by his choice. He is respected by so
many parents in the community and students, but not
by our administration at Campbell. Coach Levine
was only here a short time but the students knew he
cared about them. He will be missed next year as
a teacher and coach. To those responsible for him
leaving, look in the mirror; do you like what you see?
You are not here for our kids; you are here for your
own agenda! You care only about yourself and not
our kids! There is some really bad stuff going on at
that school. There should be some major changes
made! Who is really running that school? Who is
pulling all the strings? You probably do like what you
seen in the mirror.

Thompson Aut0 full Page
There is this old saying by Tony Gaskins which
goes, If you dont build your dream someone
else will hire you to help build theirs. That is just
what this soon-to-be husband and wife team is not
allowing. They have made a huge leap to form
an alliance that will benet everyone who walks
through their doors on 1 Winn Avenue in Hudson.
Even their address eludes to their mind sets.
After forming a partnership as Dojo Sante
and Katie Boyds Miss Fit Club two years ago,
the couple has reaped nothing but success. The
success that this dynamic duo has enjoyed has
not come easy. They have both had their fair
share of bumps in the road while combining their
businesses, but nothing is getting them down. For
both Matt Babine, a World Champion martial
artist in Kempo Karate and Tae Kwon Do, and
Katie Boyd, a retired pageant queen and reality
television star, hard work has never hindered
them. These two locals are taking huge leaps in
2014 to put them in the forefront of the tness
world, and all of their clients, students, and loyal
employees are going to be taking this ride with
them!
This year KBMFC and Dojo Sante will be
initializing the franchising and licensing of their
combined business endeavor around the country
starting in Miami, FL, Los Angeles, CA, and New
York City, just to name a few. Then in 2015,
they will be taking it overseas starting in the
UK, Australia, South Africa and Dubai to make
this business an international brand. Katie was
offered this deal three years ago and turned it
down overseas because she was transitioning
herself to Hudson from Boston and thought it
would be too overwhelming to take on. She sure
is glad she waited. Now the couple has put all
of their strengths and talents together to form a
company where children can be in one area of
the tness facility learning self-defense and anti-
bullying strategies, and moms can go to see Katie
and her elite training team for nutrition, High
Intensity Interval Training, and TRX Navy Seal
Suspension Training. Katie has also included
two fun, new additions to her variety of classes,
Zumba, a full on dance party where you can
burn up to 1,000 calories per class, and Pound
where you drum with two and a half pound
Rip sticks to choreographed music while
you squat, lunge and crunch your way to a
lean, svelte bod. Dads can get all their stress
out at Tae Kickboxing or with Dojo Santes
Adult Karate Program. There is also a mind
body approach at the studio, fusing everything
together with biofeedback and meditation to
address how your thoughts play an enormous
role in your physical state and well being.
This summer, Dojo Sante and KBMFC
will be implementing a babysitting room for
moms to have some me time, an infrared
sauna to detoxify, a tumbling/acro program
as well as Kids Camps and activities for the
moms such as Beauty Nights and Spiritual
Education. They will be visiting local schools
and implementing an anti-bullying campaign
as well as a self-esteem and tness education
for teen girls to talking about eating disorders
and depression. Katie wants to drive home
that you do not have to be thin to be in shape.
With the media blasting pictures of stick thin
models and unattainable bodies something has
to be done and parents are having a difcult
time talking to their teens about body image.
It is also affecting young men. Katie is a self-
proclaimed curvy girl who has been featured
on the Dr. Oz Show teaching him a Curvy
Girl Dance Workout as well as in Oprahs O
Magazine. With her degree from the University
of Massachusetts-Amherst in Exercise Science
and being a Certied Nutritionist, Katie knows
what it takes to be t, while not killing
yourself. She knows the harsh realities of
media after being scrutinized for her weight
after the premier of her International Reality TV
show, Wicked Fit.
That is what makes me so great at what I
do, says Katie. I get it. Some other trainers
like to scream, and name call their clients
thinking that that is the best way to get them
to achieve results, but Katies clients know
that that is not her way. At KBMFC it is all
about sisterhood and having fun. Contrary
to the stereotype of her just training pageant
competitors, Katie has a following of ladies
who range in age, weight, and race; so dont
think that you arent cut out to train at KBMFC.
What I love so much about this partnership is
that the moms can have their kids downstairs
doing karate and they can walk upstairs and
get their workouts in at the same time making it
very effective for busy families.
Sensei Babine has joined forces with the
six-time World Champion Sabunim Reggie
Perry, a Nashua resident, to teach his traveling
competition team and bring Dojo Sante to a
national level in the Karate competition circuit.
We are world champion competitors teaching
these children to be world champions, says
Sensei Matt Babine. We know what it takes to
win not only in Karate, but in life. The children
who are on this competition team have proven
black belt excellence through dedication,
courage, diligence and having respect. Grades at
school also play a major role on being accepted
onto this elite team. Sensei Babine recently wrote
a letter of recommendation to one of the most
prestigious schools in New England for one of
the teams members, Parth Patel, who has been a
student at Dojo Sante for over four years. This is
what martial arts is all about, excelling in every
aspect of life including studies. Just ask Sensei
Karina Babine, a teacher at Dojo Sante and
Sensei Babines 16 year old daughter. She attends
Bishop Guertin with a 3.8 GPA and will be going
to college next year with everything it takes to
achieve because of her 10 years training in martial
arts, as well as being a national champion point
karate competitor. The truth is all of these team
members started somewhere. Kristen Coumas, a
12-year-old black belt, has been with Dojo Sante
for over four years honing her Kempo skills to get
to the point where she is now as one of the teams
role models, showing up time and time again with
tenacity and stick-to-itiveness. Then you have two
of our smallest and youngest members, Amani
Santos and Seamus Delaney who are 6 and 7
years of age. They show up every week and spar
with kids who double them in size yet they never
back down. The team consists of 15 students
ranging from ages 6 up to 14 years of age. Their
rst competition is scheduled for the end of May,
so stay tuned.
The biggest accomplishment I feel, says
Sensei Matt Babine, is to look around the studio
and see so many amazing and loyal families and
their children learning together, growing together
and bringing back the core family values. We are
also so blessed to have an elite team of instructors,
fourth degree Black Belts Sensei Bill Schaeffer
and Sensei Jim Grady, Black Belt Sensei Kelly
Faye, Black Belt Sensei Karina Babine, Zumba
instructors Justine Beauregard, Natasha Villagrain,
elite trainer Tiffany Porter and our Club Manager
Cyndy Repole, all locals from Hudson, Nashua
and Litcheld, New Hampshire. Everyone at
Dojo Sante and KBMFC is part of the family at this
Hudson hub and we are proud of it!

The Breault Law Ofce is a general practice rm
located on Route 111 in Hudson.
If you ever thought about what it would be
like to have a friend in the business, thats what
dealing with Attorney Amy Breault is like.
Amy is dedicated to providing clients with
ethical, affordable, and competent legal
representation right here in the Hudson/Pelham/
Windham area. Her areas of practice focus on
Family Law and Estate Planning.
Estate planning is the collection of steps an
individual must take to ensure that their heirs
are provided for per their wishes, including both
lifetime planning as well as disposition of property
at death. Estate planning may be carried out with
simple legal documents such as wills and trusts,
however, without the help of an experienced
an attorney, planning for the future can become
incredibly complicated.
Family law practice includes divorce, custody,
child support, adoption and domestic violence
protective orders. Most often, family law matters
are highly sensitive and emotionally draining.
Amy encourages clients to participate in a
discussion about their individual circumstances
and then offers advice and information based on
her experience and pertinent laws and case law.
Divorce or family issues can be tough! Amy
is candid with her clients, providing information
about how the legal system works and affects
family and divorce matters.
Amy encourages reasonableness when it comes
to family law matters although a client might be
going through a bitter divorce or custody battle,
satisfying a need for revenge is not productive.
Amy encourages clients to make reasonable
decisions with regard to their legal situation.
If you have questions about issues affecting your
family or a loved one, please feel free to contact
Attorney Amy Breault at 821-9052, or visit her
website at www.breaultlaw.com.

35 Years of Experience
High & Dry Roong was established in 1999.
The owners have been in business for over 35
years. Before moving to New Hampshire, they
were located in the Boston area. Mike served in

In 1980, he opened his own company and has

When Hurricane Andrew hit in 1992, Mike
relocated the company to Florida and helped
rebuild many damaged homes. On his way back
to New Hampshire, he stopped in South Carolina
and worked to rebuild homes damaged by severe
storms. Once back in New Hampshire, Mike
worked locally to service well over 1,000 people.
They have a dedicated crew that has worked with

The Tax Return -
State of NH Tax Returns
W. F. Boutin EA Total Tax Solutions LLC
The State of New Hampshire may not have an income tax return that
affects every citizen of the state, but they do have two returns which
affect many taxpayers, the DP-10, Interest and Dividends Tax Return,
and the DP- 8, Low and Moderate Income Homeowners Property Tax
Relief.
The DP - 8 is not a tax return, but is a form that can be led by low to
moderate income taxpayers to receive relief from the burden of the
additional State Education Property Tax.
The Form DP 8 cannot be submitted prior to May 1 and no later
than June 30 of each year to the NH Dept. of Revenue Administration.
To qualify, you must own a homestead subject to the state education
property tax; you must have resided in the homestead on April 1st of
the prior year for which the claim for relief is made; your AGI, as
submitted on your Federal Income Tax Return, must be less than
$20,000 for the single ling status or less than $40,000 for the married
and head of household ling status. You are not required to have led a
Federal Return to qualify, but you must calculate what income you did
have as it would have appeared on the federal return, had you led. A
good majority of the citizens that do qualify for this relief are not
required to le a Federal Return. Taxpayers, who feel like they may
qualify for this relief, should seek assistance in completing these forms
so that they do not add income, such as Social Security Income, to
their calculations and lower the amount to which they are entitled. We
are available in May to assist taxpayers in making these calculations
and preparing the forms for submission.
The DP- 10, Interest and Dividends Tax Return affects taxpayers who
receive interest and dividends in excess of the exemption amount
allowed by state tax law. Each taxpayer receives an exemption of
$2400 for the ling status single or head of household, and $4800 for
married ling joint. An additional exemption is allowed for taxpayers
65 or older of $1200 and those considered to be legally blind an
additional $1200. The tax rate on interest and dividends that exceed
the exemptions is 5%. We have found that taxpayers who are required
to le this NH Form are usually in a high 25% to 28% tax bracket on
their federal return. Not only is the income from these investments
being taxed at a high federal rate, but usually the same investments are
affecting other areas of their federal return causing an additional tax
burden. I usually suggest looking into changing the investments to NH
municipal bonds, which earnings would be tax free on the federal and
state returns. The bond interest rates on the surface are usually lower
than other investments but when the tax burden is factored into the
equation, they actually result in a higher interest yield. If you nd
yourself in this predicament, you can use the following formula to
determine if a non-taxable municipal bond is equal to the interest from
a taxable investment or taxable bond. The formula is: the interest rate
paid by the taxable investment, multiplied by (1 minus the taxpayers
tax bracket percentage) equals the interest paid after tax.
Example: Mary is in a 25% tax bracket. She receives 5% interest on
her CD investment, which is taxable on her federal return. She would
like to know if investing in a municipal bond that offers only 4%
interest is to her advantage. Her calculation is .05 (1-.25) =
.0375. Her 5% interest after tax is equal to 3.75%. Her investment in a
municipal bond at 4% will give her more money and not affect other
areas of her federal income tax return. If not taxable on a state return
there will be additional savings realized.
This sums up this years articles for Maintaining Your Piece of the
Pie. I hope that they have been informative and that I have achieved
my goal of attempting to make the tax code a bit less confusing. I am
available year round to answer any tax questions that may arise.
Have a tax question? E-mail taxquery@totaltxsolutions.com

They Collaborate to Help Save Lives
by AJ Dickinson
These two organizations have collaborated for many
years, which is no surprise since saving lives is what
they both do best. On Tuesday, March 25 the Hudson
Police held its 51st semi-annual Red Cross blood drive
at the Hudson Community Center. Since 1988, the
Hudson Police Department has collaborated with the
American Red Cross to help obtain the vital blood
needed by so many.
The Red Cross is so very grateful for their longtime
support, said Mary Brant, communications manager for
the Red Cross Northern New England Region. Every
two seconds someone in the U.S. needs blood, and
we depend on the support of sponsors like the Hudson
Police Department and the generosity of volunteer
donors to help keep our blood supply strong.
The goal for the HPD that day was to obtain 250
pints of blood, at the start of the day they had 198
appointments and of course welcomed all walk-ins to
take a seat and donate in the spirit of giving. Typically
a single person who is at least 18 years of age and 110
pounds donates one pint of blood, however, the Red
Cross was also holding a double red blood donation
area where donors who t a
basic criteria can donate blood
that is then channeled through
a sterile, single-use collection
set to an automated machine.
The machine mechanically
separated two units of red
blood cells while also safely
returning the remaining blood
components, along with some
saline, back into the donors
arm. These state of the art
machines are specically
designed to assure that the
donor does not give too much
blood.
Mary Brant elaborated on
the double red blood donation
by saying, Each double red
cell donation allows a donor to
give more of the product that
is needed most by patients.
Double red Cell donations
takes about 30 minutes longer
than a whole blood donation,
and the donor can only donate
approximately every four
months. There was practically
no wait at the Community
Center that day as blood donors
were treated to a vast array of
food which also was donated
by local businesses. Pizza,
sandwiches, cookies and chips
were just some of the many
perks of the blood drive leaving
participants full of delicious
local food and good-hearted
generosity.
Ever since Clara Barton, a
medical activist in the late 19th
century, along with a circle
of acquaintances, founded
the American Red Cross in
Washington, D.C., in 1881,
the organization has helped
millions of people in the United
States and across the globe.
This indispensible American
organization depends on the
many generous contributions of
time, blood, and money from
New Englanders and the rest of
the American public to support
its life-saving services and
programs that help so many.
To get involved or to donate
with the American Red Cross

Common Misconceptions
About Fuel Effciency
Fuel efciency is an important issue for car buyers, and
understandably so. Conserving fuel is good for drivers
budgets and the planet, so the concept of fuel efciency
would seem to benet everyone.
But just because fuel efciency is a good concept does
not mean there are not misconceptions about it among
drivers and automotive professionals alike. The following
are some of the more widely held misconceptions about
fuel efciency.
* Full tanks conserve
fuel. Many people have
long believed that a
nearly full tank of gas
means the fuel within
that tank is less likely to
evaporate, and that tanks
that half-full tanks are
losing gas to evaporation.
Though this might have
been the case years ago,
todays vehicles are smarter than
ever before, and their fuel systems
are designed with vapor recov-
ery systems so drivers traveling
around with tanks that are closer
to empty than full arent losing gas
to evaporation.
* Manual transmissions are
more fuel efcient. Technology
can once again be credited with
turning conventional wisdom on its head. In the past, manual
transmission vehicles might have been more fuel efcient be-
cause drivers could more efciently control engine revving with
a 5-speed manual transmission than they could with the standard
3-speed automatic transmission. However, automatic transmis-
sions have evolved over the years, and they are now more adept at
controlling revs and conserving fuel than many drivers of manual
transmission vehicles.
* When you ll up matters. Some drivers have long believed that
lling up during the cooler hours of the day earns them more gas
than lling up when the temperatures are at their
peak. This theory traces its origins to the fact that
liquids are at their most dense when they are
cool. But todays lling stations store their gas
in tanks beneath the ground, which is why you
might see a tanker emptying its contents into the
ground at the lling station. These underground
tanks are insulated from temperature swings, so
you arent likely to receive any more gas by lling
up in the morning than you will when lling up
at night.
* An old vehicle is destined to be less fuel ef-
cient. Any product that is allowed to fall into dis-
repair will prove less efcient than products that
are well maintained, and cars are no exception.
A poorly maintained car will not operate at peak
fuel efciency because its likely being forced to
work harder to get down the street than it would
if it was well kept. But a well-maintained vehicle
should not grow less fuel efcient over time.
* Shifting into neutral while stopping saves
gas. This is another misconception that was once
true but no longer applies thanks to advances in
technology. When engines still had carburetors,
shifting into neutral might have helped conserve
fuel by stopping the ow of gas into the engine
while the car was idling. However, fuel injection
systems are now computerized and capable of
sensing when an engine is revving above idle.
This shuts off the fuel injectors, preventing gas
from being injected into the engine and prevent-
ing gas from being wasted while the vehicle is
stopped as a result.
Taking steps to conserve fuel is a good way for
drivers to save money and benet the environ-
ment. However, some of the conventional means
to conserving fuel are no longer viable.

Nashua Catholic Gymnast Advances to Regionals
by Phillip Nichols
Cameryn Nichols, a seventh grader at Nashua Catholic Regional Junior High School and Level 8
gymnast in Massachusetts, competed in the Massachusetts USA Gymnastics State Competition on
March 23. After dominating in her events she will advance to the USA Gymnastics New England
Regional meet for Region 6.
Cameryn, now 13, has been involved in gymnastics since she was 2 years old. She is not shy
about training and working hard. A typical day for Cameryn consists of attending Nashua Catholic,
heading to gymnastics practice for about four hours and then doing homework.
Cameryn is a multi-sport athlete, participating in track during
the spring and cross country in the fall. She also is a straight
A+ student at Nashua Catholic.
Cameryn trains for gymnastics all year long, with just
two weeks off in the summer. As a Level 8 gymnast, her
experience and endurance showed during this weekends
competition. There were more than 125 girls competing in the
state competition, held at Shrewsbury Senior High School in
Shrewsbury, Mass.
Cameryns scores were as follows: vault 9.2, uneven bars 8.8,
balance beam 9.375, and oor 9.475.
With an overall score of 36.85, Cameryn nished in
second place in her age division and will be a member of
the Massachusetts USA Gymnastics Regional Team. She will
compete against teams from Vermont, Connecticut, Rhode
Island, Maine, New Hampshire and New York on April 26, at
Woburn High School in Woburn, Mass.
As for what to expect from Cameryn, her coach Dawn Devitto
of Absolute Gymnastics said, Cameryn is a very hard worker
and very focused. She comes into the gym prepared to work and
is hard on herself. I expect Cameryn to nish tops in her age
division and I am sure she expects the same. I also expect her to
continue to excel in the sport and to move to level 9 next year.
Cameryn strikes her signature pose during her foor routine at the
Massachusetts state meet, earning a 9.475 for the event.
Hudson 6th Grade Girls Repeat at Bourne Tourney
submitted by Deanna Tardif
The Hudson 6th grade girls basketball team traveled to Cape Cod
this past weekend in hopes of repeating last years
success. The girls met Falmouth, Mass., rst thing
Saturday morning and came away with a win. Their
next opponent was Great Barrington, Mass. Although
they put up a good ght, the Hudson team came
away with a 30-23 victory. The girls headed into
their third game of the day meeting up with last years
runner-up, Bourne, Mass. The girls had a slow start,
but came back strong with 26 unanswered points and
a 29-13 win. The team started Sunday morning with
a semi-nal win against Sandwich, Mass., putting
them in the nals where they met up with Great
Barrington again. Great Barrington put up a noble
ght taking the girls into overtime, but Hudson was
victorious and took home the title again. Addison
Smith was
