Eggciting times ahead for The Queens Head

Spring has almost sprung, the clocks are jumping forward and we are all looking forward to some sunshine. But whatever the weather, you can expect a warm welcome here at The Queens Head where we have some exciting events lined up over the coming weeks. In addition, there are some important changes going on at our friendly inn, including the introduction of a new menu, which will be available from late April. Details will be available soon on our website www. queensheadbroadchalke.co. uk - but to give you some idea of whats to come, there will be some delicious new dishes including healthy and vegetarian options, a childrens menu, a takeaway menu and dishes for those with smaller appetites. Our opening hours will be extended by late April (times to be advised) and we will be introducing a library of family board games, including scrabble and chess, as well as newspapers and a bookshelf. If you have any good-quality books that you no longer want, then we would love to hear from you . Among the special events coming soon is Mothers Day on Sunday, March 30, when we will be offering a fabulous lunchtime feast with crafts available for children, as well as a small gift for any mums celebrating their special day with us. We are also looking forward to the lovely long Easter weekend when activities will feature fun for the whole family. Highlights include traditional afternoon tea (booking required), crafts for kids, an Easter Egg hunt, an obstacle course with the Easter Bunny, and roast turkey and all the trimmings on Easter Sunday. We are also very pleased to announce that Hall & Woodhouse Chairman Mark Woodhouse is hosting a Beer and Cheese Evening in May - see story below.

We are delighted to announce that we will be welcoming a very special visitor in May at a special event to delight foodies and real ale lovers alike. Hall & Woodhouse Chairman Mark Woodhouse (pictured right) will be hosting a beer and cheese evening. Not only will this be a fantastic opportunity to find out more about Hall & Woodhouses extensive range of Badger beers, you will also be able to discover which ales are a match for which types of cheese as well as other types of food. Anyone attending the event will be able to sample the entire range of bottled ales, so come along and find your favourite. Commenting on the forthcoming beer and cheese event, Queens Head general Manager Elizabeth Edwards said: Mark Woodhouse is extremely charismatic and very passionate about his ales, so we expect it will be an interesting evening. Those who would like to attend should reserve a place as soon as possible. If you are interested, please let us know and we will contact you with details.

HANDY TO KNOW:

Will card game bridge the darts gap?

The darts season for the Queens Head team is drawing to a close, but there could be a new pastime on the horizon. Some locals have expressed an interest in establishing a bridge club. We think this is a great idea and that the inn would provide a wonderful facility for such an activity. However, we would love some feedback from our regulars and guests, so if anyone is keen to participate, please contact general manager Elizabeth Edwards. But as the darts players prepare to rest their competitive arrows, were proud to announce that they end the season in the middle of the Tisbury & District League, which is an improvement on last year, so well done to them. Were now planning a friendly darts match between the official team and the team working front of house and in the kitchen. So keep your eye out for details - and for wayward darts while the staff practice their throws!
