GRADING
100-93 = A 92-86 = B 85-77 = C 76-70 = D 69 and below = F Each students artwork is graded on an individual basis. No cross-class comparisons will be made. I grade on my expectations of the student and his/her growth as an individual. Each project will be worth 50 points. Projects are graded with the following criteria in mind: artisanship, creative process, expression, and structure. Students will self-assess their work and, I will consider their own grade when I grade each piece. Project grades will be determined by the choices theyve made in producing successful designs, based on their implementation of the understood elements and principles of art.
DAILY EFFORT Students will be given a daily effort grade worth 10 points each day. These grades are based on effort, attitude, preparedness, and cooperation. In an average five-day week, 50 effort points are possible. If students exhibit inappropriate behavior, waste time, misuse supplies, etc., points will be deducted. SKETCHBOOKS Students will be required to keep a sketchbook that will have assignments and project development criteria for each project throughout the year. Each week students will be given a vocabulary word and life skill to explore. Sketchbooks will be due each Thursday. Late and incomplete sketchbook assignments will be given a zero unless there is an excused absence. Worth 10 points a week. ART SHOW Students will host their own individual art show during the evening of a school function (music concert, sporting event, etc.) in the 2nd semester. Parents and students are welcome to attend at no cost. Students will be graded on how the exhibit was prepared, carried out, and cleaned up. FIELD TRIP A field trip may be arranged in the fall of the year. Bismarck and Minot are possible destinations. I will provide further information as it is arranged.
2ND OFFENSE Student will be removed from the class, and a telephone conference with the
parents, administrator, and student will be held before the student is allowed to return. If the issue is not resolved after 3 days, the student will be dropped and a failing grade will be given.
3RD OFFENSE The student will be removed from the class and receive a failing grade for the
semester.
