DigitalGlobe dataset in MrSid Format: The data contained in this dataset was compressed using the GeoExpress 6.

0 software image compression format, MrSID Generation 3. The image compression ra tio is 15:1. All geographic information has limitations of scale, resolution, and currency. P lease consult the metadata (README.txt and/or .IMD) to determine the accuracy, resolution, compression, acquisition date and other potential limitations. Example: XXXX.IMD generationTime = 2006-08-29T18:43:29.000000Z; productOrderId = "005569517010_01_XXXX"; productCatalogId = "204001000BEBXXXX"; imageDescriptor = "OrthoRectified3"; productScale = "1:50,000"; productAccuracy = 25.40; RMSE2D = 15.44; bandId = "BGRN"; panSharpenAlgorithm = "UNB"; numRows = 49366; numColumns = 33697; productLevel = "LV3A"; productType = "Ortho"; numberOfLooks = 1; radiometricLevel = "Corrected"; radiometricEnhancement = "Off"; bitsPerPixel = 8; README.TXT areaDesc = "NMA30103C0001-00XX-XX PS"; dgOrderNo = 00556XXXX; dgOrderItemNo = 00556951XXXX; custOrderNo = "NMA30103C0001-00XX-XX"; custOrderItemNo = "Null"; collectionStart = 2006-05-07T09:45:59.799218Z; collectionStop = 2006-05-07T09:46:06.239981Z; countryCode = "EN"; productScale = "1:50,000"; numberOfLooks = "1"; cloudCover = -999.0; nwLat = 59.55060351; nwLong = 24.59757965; seLat = 59.29022626; seLong = 24.93797437; Landscapes and features can change rapidly, this product may not reflect current conditions. This dataset also contains geographic information derived from other sources suc h as Digital Elevation Models or vector information. Although DigitalGlobe uses so urces believed to be reliable, this data is not more accurate than the original source imagery. No liability is assumed for the accuracy of the data delineated on any map, eith er expressed or implied.

LIZARDTECH provides on line support information for MrSID compression at http://www.lizardtech.com INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE WITH ARCGIS: ArcGIS users can display MrSID compressed raster files of any size. All users of ArcGIS can also encode individual, decompressed rasters smaller tha n 50 MB. The raster file size limit is not based on file storage size but rather on the n umber of pixels. To open a .sid file: 1. 2. Choose File > Add Data. The Add Data dialog box displays. Select the directory in which the .sid files are located.

3. Select the desired .sid file and click on Add or double-click on the fil e name. FAQ: A060802 - Coordinate reference system not recognized in ArcGIS Summary Even though all MrSID files have a coordinate reference system (CRS), ArcGIS does not recognize it. Cause: ArcGIS versions 9.1 and earlier do not read the CRS from the metadata of a MrSI D file. Workaround: Use ArcCatalog to assign a CRS to the MrSID file. **ArcMap will not read the CRS/projection information even if it is available this must be indicated using ArcCatalog after the sid is encoded. Two free programs provide the required header information: ExpressView Browser Plug-in http://www.lizardtech.com/download/dl_download.php?detail=geo_expres sview_plugin&platform=win MrSID Info http://www.lizardtech.com/download/dl_options.php?page=tools

INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE WITH MAPINFO: The MrSID raster handler allows a user to open and display raster images compres sed in the MrSID format. Use the MapInfo Professional CD to install the MrSID raster handle r. MrSID format image handler software is licensed from Schlosser Geographic Syste ms, Inc. To open a .sid file: 1. 2. 3. Choose File > Open Table. The Open Table dialog box displays. Select the directory in which the .sid files are located. In the Files of type drop-down list, choose Raster Image.

4. Select the .sid file to be opened and choose open or double-click on the file name. The file displays; register it as you register any raster file. INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE WITH ERDAS: To open MrSID imagery in ERDAS IMAGINE 8.X, follow the steps below: 1. Start IMAGINE: In MS Windows this will generally be through either a des ktop icon or an entry under the Start -> Program Files section of the Windows menu. 2. Load and Display the Image: IMAGINE has native support for MrSID. Open a Traditional Viewer . In the viewer window, select File -> Open -> Raster Layer . In the drop-down window, select the option for MrSID . Navigate to and select the appropri ate .sid file. The file will display with intact georeferencing in the image viewer. A Note on the Imagine File Format: If the user exports imagery from MrSID to the native Imagine .img format they will still be able to use the image in most spatial softw are. The Imagine 8.x format is nearly universal in support throughout GIS and remote sensing packages. INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE WITH REMOTEVIEW: To open a MrSID image use the File Pull down Menu and select Open Image', or clic k on the Image Icon immediately to the right of the Open Folder Icon
