Policy Proposal 1 Promotion of Waste Minimisation through Education and Awareness Consultation Question 1 Education and Awareness: a. Do you support the principle of waste minimisation? b. As the first stage in the waste hierarchy, do you believe that further support and funding should be dedicated to waste minimisation initiatives? c. Do you think that the council should introduce waste collection initiatives designed to reduce the amount of waste residents throw away? d. Can you suggest any ways you could minimise the waste you produce?

The strategy suggests that Plymouth should optimise recycling rather than just make relatively small improvements. Optimising recycling will have greater environmental benefits but at a higher cost. Do you support the optimise recycling approach? Policy Proposal 5 Kerbside Collections Consultation Question 5 Kerbside Collections a. Do you support the use of kerbside recycling collections as a means of capturing recyclable material? b. Do you think that the Council should increase the range of materials collected for recycling at the kerbside? c. An increase in the range of materials collected at the kerbside may cost the Council more money. The Council does not have a legal duty to provide recycling but the private sector offer limited opportunities in Plymouth. Do you agree the Council should provide recycling to commercial customers rather than the private sector? Policy Proposal 11 Partnership Consultation Question 8 Partnership a. Do you think that Plymouth should manage waste in partnership with other local authorities if economic efficiencies can be gained without detriment to the environment? b. Would you support the location of a sub-regional waste management facility within the authority boundary if it reduced the cost of waste management for the residents of Plymouth?
