Error Analysis:
Conclusions:
The efficiency of the fin observed is 27.19 3.24 Experimental relative error in observed efficiency is 11.9%. The theoretical efficiency of the fin is 48.92%
Inference:
Attachment of fin to the heat exchanger increases the surface area for convection heat transfer. As a result convection heat transfer increases. Fin efficiency and effectiveness estimate the performance of the fin. Practical value of fin efficiency is observed to be less than theoretical value. This is because of: Idealised assumptions (e. g. adiabatic tip condition, Neglecting conduction through fin) while calculating theoretical values Errors in experimental values
