Writing
We have returned to our penny debate essays and it looks like the class is split as to whether we should keep producing the penny! Hmmma class debate may be the way to get to the root of this discussion! We then head back into narrative writing! Excitement is building as the children are ready to present their Greek myths to other classes!
Math This week we will complete Unit 9 that included a wide range of concepts from fractions, decimals, percents, mult. and div. of decimals! Application is the key to finding percents and figuring out sale prices! The assessment will be early in the week. After that we begin Unit 10 reviewing fractions/decimals with money, patterns and symmetry. FAMILY LETTERS can be found on-line this year! As in past years, they contain unit vocabulary, activities, and selected homework answers. Social Studies Farming is an important economic activity of the Midwest Region and is also important to the rest of us! This week we look at the different farming areas wheat, corn, and dairy belts. Science - from the desk of Mrs. Liporto The magnetic forces are still at work in the classroom. This week we will be testing the force of magnetism that exists between two magnets in an exciting experiment called Breaking the Force! Later in the week we will use various tools to be magnet detectives. Students will tape two magnets inside a closed box and then other groups will have to determine where in the box the magnets are hidden without opening it.
