Description CME10 and CME20 are Ethernet switches with line outputs to telephone line. They are intended for creating the linear topology of the ETHERNET network; the transmission medium is the telephone cable. CME20 is a network continuous station with three ports 10 BASE T or 100 BASE TX, whilst CME 10 is the end station with the same number of ports. The core of the device is Telindus 1421 modem with built in line interface SHDL, which enables symmetric and full-duplex operation up to 2.3 Mbps, whilst using the bigeminal line up to 4.6 Mbps. Setting is programmed by means of a serial line. The up-to-date status of the modem and the line can be assessed by means of the serial line. This service is also available remotely on the ETHERNET network.

The transmission speed is selected automatically as per the status of the transmission line. CME10 and CME20 also contain an Ethernet switch with automatic transmission mode recognition (10BASE T or 100 BASE TX) and the line couple polarity RD+ and RD-, which is automatically changed when connected incorrectly. It is not necessary to differentiate between the intersecting and non-intersecting cable. The device also contains necessary feed circuits. Application rules Documentation Device CME20 and CME10, contain Telindus 1421 modems. The device is complemented with CD, which is originally supplied with the modems by the producer 2, and which contains diagnostic tools, detailed documentation, and parameters setting description. Device connection Fig 1 displays the front panel CME20 with the description of connectors and signalization elements. Connectors LAN1, LAN2, LAN3 are used for connecting three ETHERNET ports . The cable is equipped with Harting 09 45 145 1100 connectors, intended for the industrial environment, which must be additionally ordered for the device. 3 LINE A and LINE B are line outputs of modem A, or modem B. The connector with 24V indication is used for the connection of supply voltage. The applied feed source must be classified as safe voltage source. DSUB 9 connectors indicated as CTRL are used for the connection of utility and control application (TMA) for a modem, by means of a serial channel. TMA is used for setting the Telindus 1421 modem configuration and also for the diagnostics and monitoring of the line status. 4 Signalization LED are indicated identically to Telindus 1421modem, and its documentation details the description of handling the failure situations. PWR signals the modem supply status,

Device will be built in a box, which must provide ingress protection at least IP54 Information on this CD is in English. 3 After connection with ZAT automats, use cable K106, which is equipped with the connector. 4 For details see documentation for TELINDUS 1421 modem

LNK1 and LNK2 signal the telephone line status and LINE ACT and LAN ACT signal activity in the specific part of network. The above mentioned specification can be applied to CME10, with the difference that this device contains only one Telindus 1421 modem.

Fig 2

The network topology Figure 2 displays the linear configuration of the Ethernet network created by means of CME20 and CME10. Individual nodes are interconnected by means of a telephone line. The end station interconnected in the previous node with A modem must be programmed as remote, whilst the second end station CME10 interconnected in the previous node with modem B must be programmed as central. The line connection consists of two pairs of telephone lines, whilst modems on one line must be coupled ("remote-central"). All nodes are equipped with the preset "bridging" mode (see documentation for Telindus 1421 modem). If you want to use the remote access to the setting and reading of individual network nodes statuses, it is necessary to interconnect CTRL A and CTRL B connectors with each CME20, by means of cross-section cable, which is included as accessory. CME10 can be used for extending the Ethernet network on the telephone line see fig. 3. CMExx can be operated after the respective setting in all modes (such as router), specified in the Telindus 1421 modem documentation.

Figure 3 Parameter Setting Telindus 1421 modem characteristics can be programmed by means of TMA tool, which available on the attached CD. It is possible to use the serial channel RS232 to interconnect the computer with running TMA and the respective modem. If the modem has allocated the IP address, the modem management is accessible via LAN. For details regarding the use of TMA and programming the parameters see the Telindus 1421 modem documentation. CME10 is supplied in the basic setting as central bridge. Modems in CME20 are preset as bridge from the production, whilst modem A is preset as central and modem B is preset as remote.
