Islam celebrates Ramadan. Ramadan is the most important celebration of Islam. Ramadan is on the ninth month of the Islamic calendar. Muslims who celebrate it fast from dawn to sunset in this period. The Islamic calendar is actually a lunar calendar. This calendar only starts at the Crescent moon. It ends 28 or 29 days. Ramadans rules are in the holy book of Islam, the Koran. The Muslims are not allowed to eat in daylight hours.

Both these religions have gods and both also pray to these gods. They also both have a symbol.

The Hindus believe in many divinities. Kali is believed to be the terrifying form of the mother goddess. She is also believed to be the destroyer of evil and is responsible for creating life. Shiva, another god, is believed to be the destroyer. He us married to Parvati, which is known to be gentle and kind.

They both have a place of worship as well.

HINDUISM
The universe has one divine soul and many gods as well like the ones I have mentioned in the box on the right. Karma is believed to be the of the good and bad deeds someone as done in life. Diwali is celebrated because of the return of a king called Rama. Rama was no ordinary king though. He was the god Vishnu in human form. Rama defeated Ravana a demon with 10 heads during an absence form his kingdom. As he returned the people weclomed him home.

ISLAM

Muslims are not allowed to eat pork. They also express their beliefs by celebrating Ramadan.

Ganesh is the elephant headed god. Legend has it that he did not know his father. His mother, Parvati, left him to protect the house. When his father, Shiva, came to the house Ganesh did not let him in. Shiva cut his head off. When Shiva realized his mistake he decided to replace Ganeshs head with the head of an elephant.
