Stages for physics olympiad The physics Olympiad program follows the following 5 stages: Stage I: National Standard

Stage II: Indian National Physics Olympiad %INPhO&

Eligi ility for OCSC : Only the students selected from the merit list of Stage II %IN'O& are eligi#le" There will #e no other criteria or pro$ision"The camps include se$eral theoretical and experimental tests" Orientation is pro$ided to students especially in experiments" The camps conclude with a $aledictory function where distinguished scientists are in$ited to spea7 to the students" The merit list of O S in astronomy is prepared on the #asis of the aggregated test scores o$er all the tests in the camp, with 50? weightage for theoretical tests, *0 ? weightage for data analysis test and /0? weightage for o#ser$ational tests" Performance in pre$ious stages %NSE' and IN'O& will not #e a consideration for the merit list and awards of the O S astronomy" The top * in the O S astronomy .unior merit list will #e special merit awardees and will #e mem#ers of the Indian team for I'O =unior" The Indian team for I'O Senior will comprise of / new students %from the O S astronomy Senior group I& and repeater students %i"e" past students if any who ha$e recei$ed gold or sil$er medals at I'O and are therefore eligi#le as per I'O regulations as extra students& and that of IO'' comprises of 5 students %from O S astronomy senior groups I and II com#ined&" The repeater students will #e permitted only if they ha$e 3ualified for the O S and their ran7 in O S merit list is such that e$eryone a#o$e their ran7 is part of the selected team of new students for I'O %senior& and IO''" 'll the selected students will #ecome part of the Indian teams only if they satisfy the eligi#ility criteria of age, lass, holding $alid Indian passports, medical fitness, parental consent, etc" They will each get a special merit award of <s" 5,0002H each in the form of #oo7s and cash"
