Your assignment: Write a prequel or a sequel to go along with the novel, The Outsiders. A prequel is a literary work whose story precedes that of an earlier work. This means that your story will be about the events that happen before the actual story, The Outsiders. If you write the prequel then you must make sure that the events you include make sense and lead up to what already happened in the original novel. For example, we know that Ponyboys parents died in a car accident; therefore, they would be alive in the prequel. In your story, you could include how the accident happened and what events had led up to their death. A sequel is a literary work that continues the narrative of a preceding work. If you choose to write a sequel then you must make sure that the events you write about do not contradict the original story. For example, Ponyboys parents cannot be alive in the sequel SUCCESS CRITERIA: Write a sequel or a prequel that corresponds to the original novel Your short story needs to have a distinct beginning, middle and end Write in paragraphs; paying attention to spelling and grammar Design a book cover for your short story that reflects the theme of your narrative Front of book cover needs to have: 1.
