Albany County Sheriff Craig D. Apple, Sr. reports the arrests of five subjects on weapons and drugs charges. The arrests stem from a three month long investigation into an illegal narcotics trafficking operation being operated out of the Western Motel which is located at 2019 Western Avenue in the Town of Guilderland. Members of the Sheriffs Criminal Investigation Unit executed a search warrant at the above location and found a large quantity of powdered Cocaine, Marihuana, Hash, MDMA and Xanax. During the past few months sheriffs investigators who learned of the activity, have conducted surveillance at the motel and have made several controlled drug purchases from the motel. The investigation revealed that two individuals were responsible for running the operation and were selling drugs out of the motel office. During the evening hours of March 31, 2014, Sheriffs Investigators arrested Joshua Bojkovic (27) of 2019 Western Avenue, Guilderland, James K. Sawyer (23) of 19 Robin Ann Lane, Westerlo, Thomas H. McLaughlin Jr. (39) of 1205 Hillside Drive, Watervliet, Jennifer McLaughlin (39) of 1205 Hillside Drive, Watervliet,and Jack A. Evans (19) of 508 Orchard Street, Delmar. Investigators seized more than nine pounds of Marihuana, nine and a half ounces of powdered Cocaine, six and a half grams of MDMA, a small quantity of Hash (Concentrated Cannabis), several Xanax pills and three Glock semi-automatic handguns. Additionally members located nearly five thousand dollars in cash believed to be proceeds from illegal narcotic sales. Just prior to the execution of the search warrant, investigators observed Jack Evans enter the motel office and a few moments later observed him leaving. Mr. Evans was stopped a short distance away from the motel and interviewed. He was found to be in possession of 13 grams of Cocaine, several Xanax pills and small quantity of Hash. A short time after investigators raided the motel office and while they were executing the search warrant at the motel office, Thomas McLaughlin arrived at the office with a backpack looking to speak with Mr. Bojkovic. Investigators found McLaughlin to be in possession of a loaded .40 caliber Glock handgun and two pounds of Marihuana. McLaughlin, who is a convicted felon indicated that his pistol permit had been revoked due to a prior felony conviction and stated that he had never surrendered the guns due to the fact that his wife had a valid NYS pistol permit. A second search warrant was conducted at the McLaughlin residence and two additional handguns were recovered along with another pound and a half of Marihuana.

James K. Sawyer was charged with two counts of Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance in the 3rd Degree, a class B Felony. He was arraigned in the Guilderland Town Court and released under supervision of the Albany County Probation Department. Joshua Bojkovic was charged with Criminal Possession Controlled Substance in the 1st Degree, a class A1 felony, Criminal Possession Controlled Substance in the 3rd Degree, a class B Felony, Criminal Possession of Marihuana in the 2nd Degree, a class D Felony, Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 3rd Degree, a class D Felony and two counts of Criminally Using Drug Paraphernalia in the 2nd Degree, a class A Misdemeanor. He was arraigned in the Guilderland Town Court and ordered held at the Albany County Correctional Facility without bail. Thomas H. McLaughlin Jr. was charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 2nd Degree, a class C Felony, Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 3rd Degree, a class D Felony and Criminal Possession of Marihuana in the 2nd Degree, a class D Felony. He was arraigned in the Guilderland Town Court and ordered held at the Albany County Correctional Facility in lieu of $40,000 bail. Jennifer McLaughlin was charged with Criminal Possession of Marihuana in the 2nd degree, a class D Felony. She was arraigned in the Watervliet City Court and released under supervision of the Albany County Probation Department. Jack A. Evans was charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 3rd Degree, a class B Felony, Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 4th Degree, a class C Felony, two counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 7th Degree, a class A Misdemeanor, two counts of Criminally Using Drug Paraphernalia in the 2nd Degree, a class A Misdemeanor, Unlawful Possession of Marihuana, a Violation, Possession of a Controlled Substance in a Non-Original Container, a Violation, and two vehicle and traffic law violations. He was arraigned in the Guilderland Town Court and ordered held at the Albany County Correctional Facility in lieu of $10,000 bail.
