"BRACKET13" --- BRACKET PLATE STRESS ANALYSIS PROGRAM

Program Description:
"BRACKET13" is a spreadsheet program written in MS-Excel for the purpose of analysis of bolted and welded bracket plates using the method desribed on pages 15-3 through 15-4 of the AISC Manual. If the bracket is bolted, the program assumes a minimum of 2 vertical rows of bolts. The spacing between rows shall be either 3", 5.5" or 8" in order to make use of Tables 7-8, 7-9 and 7-10, respectively. This program is a workbook consisting of three (3) worksheets, described as follows:

Worksheet Name
Doc Bolted Bracket (2 Bolt Rows) Welded Bracket

Description
This documentation sheet Analysis of Bolted Bracket Plate (2 Vertical Rows) Analysis of Welded Bracket Plate

Program Assumptions and Limitations:

1. The AISC eccentric loads on bolt groups worksheets (Tables 7-8 through 7-10, pages 7-38 through 7-50) are applicable for only in-plane shear loads and torques (moments) on the bolt group. 2. A minimum of 2 vertical rows are assumed if the bracket plate is bolted. 3. Plate yield strength is either 36 ksi or 50 ksi and the corresponding tensile strength is 58 ksi and 65 ksi, respectively. 4. Welds are assumed to be E70XX. 5. If a horizontal load is entered, the program will calculate the moment due to eccentricity, M = Ph * (a or d)/2. It will then increase the vertical load accordingly so that P' * eb = M + Pv*eb. 6. This program contains numerous comment boxes which contain a wide variety of information including explanations of input or output items, equations used, data tables, etc. (Note: presence of a comment box is denoted by a red triangle in the upper right-hand corner of a cell. Merely move the mouse pointer to the desired cell to view the contents of that particular "comment box".)
