Description: Three logo variations for the same company. Process (Programs, Tools, Skills): All done on Illustrator.

The rst logo I actually sketched out and took a photo of it, emailed it to myself and I traced it with the pen tool. For the second logo I just took the text I needed, put a font I liked on it, and then created outlines to make it a solid image and so that I could get the white B in. That one was pretty simple. The third logo I simply started with a square and then used the reshape tool so that I could manipulate the shape into a dress. I started with the dress being more puffy and princess-like but then I decided I wanted it even more bridal obvious so I found a picture of a mermaid cut dress and tried to replicate the shape with the points on the dress. For the cent sign I used a font, inserted the symbol, and once again changed it to an image with the create outlines tool. Message: That the dresses in this company are affordable and they will still be beautiful. Audience: Brides to be as well as anyone interested in bridal such as distributors, vendors, businesses, etc. Top Thing Learned: Sketching is extremely helpful. I remember Brother Kerr mentioning in class that he will sketch about 20 bad logos before he comes up with a good one and that was the case for me when doing this assignment. It was a step by step process for each logo but it took many tries until I got to a point I was satised with. Three Color Scheme and Color Names: Grey, Black, Teal Three sets of Title / Body Font Names & Categories: BlairITC Sans Serif Votes on favorite logo: Top Logo = _1_; Middle Logo = _3_; Bottom Logo = _2_; My favorite logo is my rst logo. I like it a lot because it has some great details and it gets the message across well in my opinion. I like the contrast of black and white and it looks like it could be used by a business for different purposes.

Message: Style is for everyone. It speaks and its a way to have a voice. Style is simple even when its bold.

Description: A two sided (duplex) folding brochure. Process (Programs, Tools, Skills): First, I started with sketching because sketching denitely helps me get more focused and better ideas after coming up with ones I knew I didnt like. Once I had a rough idea of how I wanted it to look and its dimensions I opened up InDesign and made a new, two-sided document. I added grids/rulers so I would make sure that I was being accurate and wouldnt print something that didnt line up. I placed my rst main photo and then I divided the page with a line because I knew I wanted it to have a triangular fold out. I added font that I liked and simplied my back portion of the brochure. Next, I opened up Photoshop and I clipped my image that I wanted to use for the inside of the brochure. I used the select tool, inverted, duplicated the layer, deleted, cropped and saved the image for web. also cropped a few more images with the circle selector tool. Next, I placed those images into the brochure on InDesign and I arranged them how I wanted them.

I loved this assignment because it helped me to understand that what I thought was good photography was really amateur level and even so after this assignment I see that I have a long way to go! But it really was good to start learning the basic principles of what makes a professional photo. I am a lover of indoor lighting like using a window to light up my subject (which Im sure you can tell from these photos). In the rst two, focus foreground and background, I decided to open the window in my room and use my cactus plants because they are so colorful. I held down the button half way each time making sure to have it centered on what I wanted focused. Next for my outdoor lighting photo I made sure to use the rule of thirds but I really wanted to make the sky my focus. It kind of reminds me of a photography version of white space. My lead room photo denitely was something I was excited about because the focus is drawn to the red space and then it has the record in the background which gives it space. My indoor lighting photo was my box of records that I put on our coffee table and opened our living room window. I didnt have to do much more to it and I think it is amazing the way the light hits the records and the shadows frame it at the same time. Lastly, my picture I wanted to use thirds in I made sure to line the kitten with the line so that it wasnt on center and I think it looks really nice!

Description: Matching letterhead and business card designed using a personally created logo. Process (Programs, Tools, Skills): First I started by sketching. Then I opened up my document and found a font that I wanted to use for the front logo of my business card. When I found Bodoni I really liked it and thought it reected fashion because of the large serifs. Originally I just had the CH on the front in black but the more I looked at it, I wanted something a little more bold. So I used the circle shape tool and made a black circle and then brought the font to the front. I made another thin circle outline for the inside of the black circle to give it a little more depth. Then for the back of the business card I found a good shade of a metallic gold, created a polygon in the middle of the card that covered everything but the shapes I wanted to use, in this case triangles. At rst I had it as just half gold and half white but I thought a more interesting shape would be better. I then typed my information in the middle. For the stationary I used the same logo and created lines that would reach the circle in the middle. I wanted it to be simple but to look nice and professional. Message: Fashion should be clean, simple and elegant. Audience: Fashion goers, Bloggers, Afliates, Readers. Top Thing Learned: The top thing that I learned was how to use the polygon tool to help me make shapes when I needed to add in an image or color as the ll. Colors: Gold, Black, White

Description: An inspirational montage made by the blending of two or more images, and the use of typography. Process (Programs, Tools, Skills): I picked out the image of New York City and the models that I wanted. I opened New York rst and then put my fonts and added a masking layer to it. I made the New York Fashion week more masked than week and added a glow to the work week to help it become more visible. I took my image of New York City and used the clone stamp to remove the Empire State Building and another building on the right. I added in my models and gradually masked them so that you could see their clothes well enough. Message: New York City is beautiful and fashion week is something you dont want to miss. Audience: Anyone who likes fashion, the city, and/or experiences new things. Top Thing Learned: Masking! I dont know what else to say but learning masking is a huge benet and it will really help me in future projects to come. Description: A web page designed to showcase a personally created logo. Process (Programs, Tools, Skills): First I played around on CSS Live to get an idea of what I wanted. I didnt want to leave the border on so I took a lot off of the original and then I made a banner on InDesign and placed it above my logo. I used Photoshop to make my logo and screen shotted (control+shift+3) and arranged them to give a visual of how I actually made my logo. I used InDesign, Photoshop and TinyPic for this project. Message: That simple can go a long way. You dont have to have a ton of crazy colors and blinking images to get peoples attention. Audience: Fashion industry, fashion goers, bloggers, etc. Top Thing Learned: How to add in different images into different spaces accordingly and how to pull a color from photoshop and use it online. Color scheme and color hex: Grey, Black, Citrus Title Font Families & Category: Didot Serif Copy Font Families & Category: Didot Serif

Description: I like when titles grab the attention so that was something I knew that I wanted for my design. I originally didnt have anything to tie it in with at the bottom but added another black box and I think it keeps your eyes on the page quite nicely. I made sure to only use two fonts, and only used capitals in the title. I made sure the most important information stood out as well. I think there is a nice ow to the page and that there is good contrast as well. Process (Programs, Tools, Skills): I used InDesign for this ier (as I am sure we all did!) and mainly used the text box tool, create shape tool and one of the features that I really love on InDesign is the ability to really manipulate the text whether it be making it taller or more spaced out. Message: My message is be bold. Stand out. Just like this seminar is going to teach these graduates. Audience: Graduates who want to gain business experience and skills that will help them stand out. Title Font Name & Category: Arial Black-Sans Serif

Description: I wanted this ier to look bridal which is why I went for a neutral color. I also know that using circles and soft edges are appealing to the eye. I wanted the girl in the dress to be the main focus because it grabs your attention as well as the Wedding titles. Process (Programs, Tools, Skills): I picked the image, scanned it onto my computer, put it into word, tried to gure out what would be a suitable color palette and then I started playing with the shapes and the font. I used the shape tool, the text box tool and then ll tool most. Message: That weddings are beautiful and memorable and that every woman deserves to have a wonderful dress and that day. Audience: Women who have dresses to donate and women who need a dress. Color scheme and color names: Gold (muted) Top Thing Learned: That the shape tool is your best friend on Word when designing something like this!
