Terms and Conditions:

1. General. This Agreement is a legally binding agreement when signed by the student and accepted by the University. Your signature on this Agreement acknowledges that you have been given reasonable time to read and understand it and that you have been given: (a) a written statement of the refund policy including examples of how it applies and; (b) a University Catalog and/or a link to a University Catalog including a description of the course or educational service including all material facts concerning the University and the program or course of instruction which are likely to affect your decision to enroll. 2. Progress. Degrees for each program will be granted to a student who successfully completes each course in the academic program. With the exception of English Composition 1, successful completion requires a student to earn a score in each course of at least 60%. Successful completion of English Composition 1 requires a student to earn a score of at least 73%. A student who does not pass a mandatory orientation course may only retake it one time. The School reserves the right to terminate a students enrollment if a student does not pass one or more of the mandatory Orientation courses on their second attempt, or fails to meet Satisfactory Academic Progress as described in the University Catalog. 3. STUDENTS RIGHT TO CANCEL. You have the right to cancel this Agreement for a course of instruction including any equipment or other goods and services included in this Agreement without penalty or obligation, until midnight of the eighth business day after the day on which you received your first lesson. Cancellation shall occur when you have given written notice of cancellation at the email address of the School shown on the top of the front page of this Agreement. You can do this by email only. The written notice of cancellation is effective five days after the time the email is sent by the student. During this time, you may notify the University that you no longer wish to cancel this Agreement. The written notice is effective if it shows that you no longer wish to be bound by this Agreement or continue your attendance at the University. If you cancel this Agreement, you will have no liability to the University and the University will refund any money, save and except for any money paid in respect of non-refundable fees, including those that you paid within 30 days after we receive your notice of cancellation. 4. Tuition Refund Information. You have the right to withdraw from a course of instruction at any time. If you withdraw after midnight of the eighth business day after the first day you received your first lesson, the University will calculate the amount of your tuition refund on a pro rata basis depending on how many credit hours you attended versus how many credit hours you paid for. Only tuition is refundable; the Application Processing Fee and the Exam Processing Fees are nonrefundable. If the amount you paid is more than the amount you owe for the time you attended, a refund will be made within 30 days. If the amount you owe is more than the amount you have already paid, you will have to make arrangements for payment. If you received federal student financial aid funds, you are entitled to a refund of moneys not paid from federal student financial aid program funds. The withdrawal date for refund computation is your last date of attendance in class. You are also deemed to have withdrawn for refund purposes, if the institution terminates your enrollment as provided for in section 2 above.

Refunds are calculated as follows: (1) Divide the course tuition paid by the number of lessons in the course to find the Per-Lesson Charge; (2) Multiply the Per-Lesson Charge by the number of lessons that have been received by the student; (3) The refund shall be the course tuition paid by the student minus the amount determined above. AS UNIVERSITY OF THE PEOPLE CURRENTLY DOES NOT CHARGE TUITION FOR PROGRAMS, THERE ARE CURRENTLY NO REFUNDS AVAILABLE TO STUDENTS. 5. Loans, If you obtain a loan to pay for your fees, the responsibility for repaying the full amount of the loan plus interest, less the amount of any refund, lies solely with you. If you receive federal student financial aid funds, you are entitled to a refund of the moneys not paid from federal student financial aid program funds. If you are eligible for a loan guaranteed by the federal or state government and you default on the loan, both of the following may occur: (a) The federal or state government or a loan guarantee agency may take action against you, including applying any income tax refund to which you are entitled to reduce the balance owed on the loan. (b) You may not be eligible for any other federal student financial aid at another institution or other government assistance until the loan is repaid. 6. Governing Law. This Agreement shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of California only. Any unresolved dispute which is related to this Agreement and has not been amicably resolved shall be brought before a court of competent jurisdiction in the State of California, which will have sole jurisdiction in this regard. 7. Termination Date. This Agreement will terminate as follows: A.S Degree: Three years from the date of commencement of studies. B.S Degree: Six years from the date of commencement of studies. Students must have completed the program of study prior to the Termination Date. Failure to do so will result in termination of a student's enrollment.
