Home Team vs.

Visiting Team September 18, 2020

Agenda
These times may seem overly meticulous. They follow what Ive typically seen happen in my years of doing this but they will b e different for every league. In the event of double-headers, I suggest you use the half-time as a nice buffer zone and have your teams aware of the fact that it may go longer or shorter depending on the timeline requirements. MAKE SURE TO CLEAR THIS WITH YOUR BOUT PRODUCTION PEOPLE half-times may be written into bout contracts, you cannot change them in that case.

Halftime
Too many times this aspect of the bout is done last minute. If youre doing a raffle, consider giving notes on the individua l items in the Script area and add (SEE SCRIPTS). If youre doing a show or something, consider creating a timeline and have a conversation with your announcer to ensure theyre on the same page . If its not worth your time, why are you doing it?

Scripts
Allow your announcers to be extemporaneoussay it how it comes naturallyuse your common sense as to what information to give them. Note where I point out how many words per blurb. Many BPs forget that actual time and effort should go into writing those blurbs and that there is a finite amount of seconds in which to say things between jams. Oh, the bloody horror of a shittily written bout script. Even worse when you end up with a BP that insists you read things ver batim; nooooooOOpe.

I advise against a scripted home team rollout. Just give pertinent stats and info so the announcer can be extemporaneous i.e.:

Rosters
Wait, youre not in Microsoft Excel right now. That must mean that youre WRONG! Youll need to do this separately for each team unless you know excel well enough to specify named ranges. If that makes no sense, read everything up to unless. 1. Go into excel, 2. Column headers should be Number, Team Name 3. When populating, before each skater number, add an apostrophe (this thing ) 4. When its all filled out, sort by skater number. 5. Pat yourself on the fucking back. 6. Copy/Paste that roster into this packet. 7. Use the intelligence God (or Shiva or Carl Sagan or whoever) gave a tapeworm and format that thing so people can read it. BOLD, ALLCAPS IMPACT FONT IS FUCKING HARD TO READ. STOPIT. Heres an example of a good roster. Im not going to give you its cousin, the Fuck the announcer roster You already know what that one looks like.
