Report Writing Scaffold Title Fertilized and unfertilized Plant experiment Backgrou We are given 2 plants to care for

over a 5-week period. nd One will be planted in fertilised soil and the other in informati unfertilised soil. on Aim: To investigate the effects fertiliser have on plants Hypothes My hypothesis is that the fertilised plant will grow faster is: than the unfertilised plant Materials Measuring cylinder (measure the amount of : water/fertiliser needed), ruler, water, fertiliser water (provided by teacher), logbook and pen to record results, camera/phone for pictures. Risk The Pea seedlings are planted in the school garden and Assessme after a storm, the grass is muddy and slippery. Students nt: can avoid falling over by walking close to the wall where theres less grass. Variables Independent soil (fertilised and unfertilised) : Dependent Height and leaves of plant, amount of water (based on situation e.g. sunny, wet) Controlled 30 ml of fertiliser on fertilised plant Method: 1. The seedlings are planted in the garden bed by teachers 2. 100 ml of water (or more, depends on situation) was watered on both plants daily. 30 ml fertiliser (per week) was watered on fertilised plant.

3. For every logbook entry, plants height measured with ruler, leaves counted and water/fertiliser measured with measuring cylinder. Pictures were taken occasionally. 4. Recorded in Logbook. Diagram Results: Tables are usually the best way of presenting results. All tables should have the following: Title Suitable number of columns and rows Headings-independent & dependent variables Units (symbols) for numerical data Data entered correctly for at least 3 trials Average if appropriate Discussio I have finished the plant fertiliser experiment. After n: looking thoroughly through the results, there are no noticeable patterns or trends in plant growth.

Include an appropriate graph if relevant to show patterns & trends in the results Outline the trends/patterns in the results Reliability and accuracy of results (did results agree with secondary sources if available?) Validity of the method (refers to the variables controlled and tested) Theory to explain results (use the researched information) Improvements- What errors (mistakes in results were there? what could you do to be more accurate or organised or better informed? Was the hypothesis and the method suitable? Should one of them (or both) been modified? Should you have trialled the method first and then modified it? Further areas of investigation- what other experiments related to this topic could be done? Evaluate the impact of the topic on society and/or the environment

Conclusi Write a summary statement to answer the aim and outline on: how the results have (or have not) supported the hypothesis.
