Dirty Air Pitot Probe

The dirty air pitot probe is utilized to measure air elocity, pressure, and temperature within a flow stream that is hea ily laden with particulate! Compared to other pressure"type elocity probes, the desi#n of the dirty air probe reduces the potential for plu##a#e of the pressure lines, a situation that will cause erroneous data! The probe is connected to a pressure #au#e or electronic pressure transducer to measure the differential! A wind tunnel calibration is necessary in order to determine the calibration coefficient to obtain the flow elocity! An inte#rated thermocouple is used to measure the flow temperature! The dirty air probe is #enerally used to measure the air or #as flow rate in pneumatic con eyin# systems! These may include pipin# or duct systems that transport cement, pul erized coal, lime, food products, or other similar dusts! The dirty air probe determines the elocity of the transport flow and thus can pro ide the data necessary to balance flows and a oid dust dropout due to low elocities! $n addition, the air elocity is necessary if iso%inetic particulate samplin# is desired &i!e!, $S' (()*, AS+E PTC ,!-, etc!.!
