Q8

Nearly 99% of abortions in the United States

are performed before 21 weeks, and when they
occur later, it often is because a doctor
determines that the fetus has severe
abnormalities that would cause fetal death or
extreme disability. In many cases, these
abnormalities are not identified until later in a
pregnancy, and often involve heartbreaking
decisions by the parents. With this background
in mind, do you think abortions after 20 weeks
should definitely be permitted, should probably
be permitted, should probably not be permitted,
or should definitely not be permitted in cases
involving severe fetal abnormalities?

woman would be prevented from having a legal

severe fetal abnormalities and cases when the
woman would suffer serious, permanent health
problems if the pregnancy were carried to term.
Would you strongly favor, somewhat favor,
somewhat oppose, or strongly oppose this
proposal that would ban abortions after 20
weeks, including banning them in cases of
severe fetal abnormalities and serious health
risks to the woman?
