BASIC CONSTRUCTION

3.1 Each switchgear assembly consist of

indoor,
metal-enclosed,
free-standing,
vertical,
dead-front
steel
structures
containing power buses, an earth bus, circuit
breakers,
necessary
auxiliary
control
devices, and other accessories to make a
complete working unit.

SPECIAL SPECIFICATION

3.2 A copper earth bus bar will be provided

at the entire length of the assembly and
afford connections in each vertical section.
All non-current carrying metallic parts
of the switchgears will be bonded to the
earth bar.
The earth bar will be located adjacent
to the incoming cabling and will be fitted
with terminals to facilitate bonding of the
cable armoring.
3.3 Sheet steel barriers will be provided
between the vertical sections and the control
compartments
and
the
power
compartments.
3.4 Each switchgear assembly will be
suitable for the future addition of units on
each end, unless otherwise noted.
