Woodpelletfuelisstoredinthehopper.An augerdeliversthefueltotheburngrate.The fuelrate,orheatoutput,issetbyadjustingthe HeatLeveltouchpad,(settings1to4).Ablower providescombustionairtotheburngrate.The properamountofcombustionairissuppliedto theburngrateautomaticallyandchangesasthe HeatLevelchanges.ThehighertheHeatLevel, thelargertheamountofcombustionair.The fuelburnsintheburngrate,producingheat.The heatpassesaroundtheheatexchangetubesand isblownintotheroombytheconvectionfan. Exhaustgasesexitthroughthestovesexhaust vent. TheHearthlandsheatoutputcanbeadjustedfrom HeatLevelsetting14,bypressingontheHeatLevel touchpad. HopperLidSwitch
Thisdeviceismountedontherightsideofthehopperopening.Whenthehopperdoorisopen,theswitchstops theaugerfeedsystem.Ifthehopperdoorisleftopenformorethanoneminute,theunitwillentershutdown mode.Ifthishappensunintentionally,simplyclosethedoorandpressstartonthetouchpad.
VacuumSwitch
Thevacuumswitchensuresthatthevacuumoftheentirecombustionsystemismaintained.Theswitchis locatedontheinnerrearwalloftheunitandtakesameasurementfromthefreshairintaketube.Ifthe vacuumswitchfailstoreadadequatenegativepressureformorethanoneminute,theunitwillentershut downmode.Thisfeatureensuresthatthestovewillnotoperatewiththedoorajarortheashpan tightenedincompletely.NOTE:Ifleftopenduringoperationformorethan60seconds,thestovewillenter shutdownmode.Ifthishappens,findandcorrectthecauseandpressstartonthetouchpad.(SeeSection #9Troubleshooting)

Thedesignofyourhomeandthestoveplacementwilldetermineitseffectivenessasasourceofheat.A pelletappliancedependsonaircirculationtocirculateheat.Otherpracticalconsiderationstobe consideredbeforeafinalplacementisdeterminedmayinclude:ExistingChimneys,FuelStorage, Aesthetics,RoofDesign(rafterlocations&roofpitch),RoomTraffic,ClearancestoCombustibles,and ExistingWiring.Keepinmindthefollowingplacementconcerns;ventingobstructions,outsideair,electrical outlet,wallthermostat,heatdistribution,trafficpatternsandroomuse/size. Thisapplianceisnotdesignedtobeoperatedinanegativepressureenvironment.Inveryairtighthomes,a negativepressurecanbecreatedbycommonhouseholddevicessuchas;largekitchenexhaustfans, furnaces,clothesdryersandotherfireplaces.Besurethatyourhomehasadequatemakeupairto compensatefordevicessuchasthese.Inanexcessivelynegativepressureenvironment,theriskexiststhat thecombustionblowerwouldnotbeabletogenerateenoughnegativepressurewithinthestoveto supportcombustion,inwhichcasethevacuumswitchwouldtriggerthestoveintoshutdownmode.
