Morning Prayer @ 8:30 a.m. – All worship participants gather for prayer each Sunday at 8:30
a.m. As we grow into a house of prayer for all people, you are welcome to join them any Sunday!

Special Thanks To Our Youth Mission Team – Fifteen youth and four adults from SoJ spent the
week serving with YouthWorks in Birmingham, Alabama. We look forward to hearing some of the
“God stories” during worship this morning!

Pick Up Wet ‘n Wild Outing Tickets Today – Saturday, August 4 is SoJ’s all-congregation outing
to the Wet ‘n Wild Water Park. 45 people signed up so we ordered 75 tickets to be sure we had
enough. See Christa Dees today to purchase and pick-up tickets. Tickets cost $22.25 for ages 10
and up and $18.75 for ages 3 to 9. Children under 3 are free. Make checks payable to SoJ with
Wet ‘n Wild in the memo line.

Women’s Ministry Survey – SoJ’s Women’s Ministry is asking all women to please fill out an
interest survey and leave it in Women’s Ministry Box at the Welcome Center.

Mid-Year Giving Reminders – Mid-Year Giving Reminders are available at the Welcome Center
today. Save SoJ some postage and pick up yours today! Thanks!

Attention Splash Zone Parents – Please sign up to supervise in the Splash Zone this summer.
We are showing videos so our emcees can take a break until school starts. We ask that EACH
family with children in the SPLASH ZONE please consider choosing a Sunday to help. Thanks!

Journey Group Meets Today – The Life Liners meet for Prayer, Bible Reading, and Fellowship

“When God’s People Pray” Adult Study Wednesday – Join members of SoJ’s Prayer Vision
Team 7 p.m. Wednesday for a video Bible study with Pastor Jim Cymbala of the Brooklyn
Tabernacle entitled When God’s People Pray. Discover the keys that unlock the power of prayer!

Get Acquainted Gathering August 5 – If you are new to SoJ, a Get Acquainted Gathering will be
held at 6:30 p.m. next Sunday at Pastor Jeff and Patti’s. Enjoy some dessert and conversation with
the Linmans and others new to SoJ. Sign up at the Welcome Center soon!

Oceanfront Re-Member Your Baptism Celebration August 12 – As the grand finale for our
Wet ‘n Wild summer sermon series, we are offering a unique opportunity for everyone to affirm
and re-member their Baptism, Sunday, August 12, at 4 p.m., in the Atlantic Ocean adjacent to
Steve and Denise Beumer’s condo in Cocoa Beach. Come early to enjoy the beach if you’d like!
You may “re-member” in any way you’d like: splashing, diving, or dunking! After the celebration,
we will adjourn to the community room and pool area of their condo, to enjoy a potluck cook-out!
Carpooling will be offered from SoJ. Sign-up soon!

Pre-Baptism Lunch – If you have never been baptized, and want to be baptized in the ocean
August 12, talk to Pastor Jeff soon! There are four already planned! A Pre-Baptism Meeting is
planned for Sunday, August 12 at 12:30 p.m. A pizza lunch will be provided.

Women’s Bible Study – Calling all women! Mark August 14 on your calendars! The women of
SoJ are starting a new Bible study on the book of James. We meet the second Tuesday of the
month at 7:15 p.m. for fellowship and faith building. Questions? Call Mitz Oates at 407-277-7916.

First Communion – At SoJ parents decide when their children are ready for communion. A two
session class for parents and children will be held this summer. Sign-up at the Welcome Center!

Young Adult Community (YAC) – Our YAC includes our college ministry and young adult min-
istry. To keep informed of activities, sign up for our e-newsletter at the Welcome Center!

IHN Orientation Thursday at SoJ – Prior to our next hosting, two orientation sessions are
scheduled: August 2, 7-9 p.m. at Spirit of JOY and September 12, 7-9 p.m. at First United
Methodist Church in Winter Park. All volunteers, including cooks, servers and hosts, are
REQUIRED to attend an orientation session. Contact Dick Lovisone at 407-384-8178 or
lovi@cfl.rr.com to indicate which session you will attend.

SoJ Quilters – QUILTERS meet the first Monday of each month. We need volunteers to cut
squares and sew backs at home. Workers are needed so please join us and plan to go to lunch
together. Questions? Call Quaidie Hock at 407-657-8420 or Marsha Call at 321-235-0898.

Adult Literacy Training – The Adult Literacy League has over forty adults who need help to
become functionally literate. The next training session will be August 2 and August 4. If you have
1 ½ hours a week to prepare a lesson, tutor, and enjoy changing a life, this is a great opportunity.

Bicycle Ministry – This unique SoJ ministry provides bicycles to people in need. Volunteers are
needed. Meet in the back storage room at 10 a.m. the 2nd Saturday each month, and 10 a.m.
Wednesdays. Sign up at the Welcome Center. Questions? Call Will Stevenback: 407-401-1963.

Additional Volunteers Urgently Needed – If you are able, please consider helping out in the
following ways at SoJ:
• Cleaning Team Volunteers: Meet Thursday morning from 9 to 11 a.m. See Bob Belk today!
• 2nd Service Bookstore Volunteers: Before and after the 10:45 a.m. worship. See Diane Belk.
• Tech Booth Volunteers: Serve one Sunday a month on sound or computer. Training provided.

Congregational Care Team Update – SoJ’s Congregational Care Team offers spiritual, emotional
and physical care for those in need. If you know of someone in the hospital or sick at home, call
SoJ’s office, 407-282-4569, so we know of the need and can respond accordingly through both the
pastoral staff and the Congregational Care Team. The Team is looking into starting a
"transportation" ministry for those who need rides to church or to doctor's appointments. To
become involved in any way, contact Pam Rousseau, 407-568-4093, or Marsha Call, 407-375-
7813.

Youth Recycling Project – SoJ’s youth are now able to recycle inkjet, laser cartridges, AND cell
phones. Please bring your empty cartridges and unused cell phones to the Welcome Center
and drop them into the appropriate boxes. Thanks for partnering with us in this fundraiser!

Joy Singers – Our adult choir, open to anyone from high school age and up, will resume
rehearsals this Wednesday at 7pm. All are welcome!

Joyful Noise – Our Sunday morning worship team rehearses on Thursdays from 7-9 p.m. We are
currently looking for an additional bass player and vocalists. Interested? Contact Phil Greve.

Drama Team – SoJ's Drama Team consists of writers and actors who are interested in utilizing
their talents in short skits to enhance the worship experience. If you would like to be involved in
the Drama Team, please contact Sandy and Doug Gaston at 407-382-4027.

Private Music Lessons – The Creative Arts Studio has 11 instructors teaching almost every
instrument and voice. For more information or to register, pick up a flyer in the Welcome Center.
