Help families obtain applications to charter and other schools with their own applications. Help students determine the types of schools and programs to which to apply. Encourage families to attend open houses call the school if not on OAE calendar. Support families in going online to schedule tests, info sessions, and auditions. Help families interested in submitting paper applications, with self-addressed stamped postcard or envelopes. Remind parents that if they move, they need to complete a Contact Information Modification Form at www.cpsoae.org or by calling OAE.

If parents submit applications to you, be sure to give them a receipt and then submit the application to OAE by the deadline. Help parents complete an Application Modification Form if they wish to change the schools or programs on their application (do not submit a second application for the same program). Step IV: Support Parents After They Receive Notification Letters If students receive multiple offers and parents have questions about choosing the best one for their children, encourage them to visit www.cps.edu for school performance information, school websites, or visit the schools in person. If students did not receive an offer, assist them in understanding the information on the notification letter and in exploring other options. Inform parents whose children did not receive offers about the End-of-Year Citywide Options Process in early May. Make sure parents follow through in accepting offers and registering their children in their chosen school as required.
