Selecting Persons:
From the neighbors, relatives and friends of mine I choose two persons for conducting this particular assignment. They are Mr. Kazi Zubayer Ahmed and Mrs. Dilruba Chowdhury. Here, Mr. Zubayer is my friend and Mrs. Dilruba is my neighbor.

Personal Details and Religious Views:


Mr. Kazi Zubayer Ahmed: Mr. Zubayer is an undergraduate student of North South University. He is about 24 years old. Currently, he is majoring in Marketing. He likes to do the style kind of things. Moreover, he is open minded and extrovert. He loves the art of creativity and he is also a sports loving guy. The religious view of Zubayer is Islam. He thinks that he believes in his religion and tries to maintain the rules and regulations of Islam but not in a strict way. Therefore, it is clearly seen that the strength of Zubayers religious view is moderate.

Mrs. Dilruba Chowdhury: Mrs. Dilruba is a housewife. She is about 29 years old. Four years ago, she has completed her graduation from American International University of Bangladesh. She is pretty conservative type of women. Mrs. Dilrubas religious view is Islam. She strictly maintains Islamic rules and regulations. She also maintains Hijab outside home. Hence, we can say that she is a pious woman and her strength of religious view is high.

Selecting American (International) Brands:
From the top American (international) brands, which are also available in Bangladesh, I choose these three brands: Pepsi Hallmark Cards FedEx

Perception of the brands:


Mr. Kazi Zubayer Ahmed: As Mr. Zubayer is an open minded and quality loving person, he thinks three of the companies are highly appreciated because of their quality of products as well as their creativity towards promotional activities. He often consumes or uses those companys products or services. Pepsi: Mr. Zubayer often consumes Pepsi because, he thinks, Pepsi is one of the biggest sponsors of worldwide sport events and he loves sports. Hence, he relates Pepsi as a sporting and adventurous drinking stuff. Hallmark Cards: As he is a creative loving person, he likes the product of Hallmark Cards. He believes Hallmark Cards product designs are awesome. He also mentioned their out let decoration is outstanding. FedEx: Once in a while Zubayer uses FedEx to send and receive something to or from his brother who lives in Canada. He shares that he is totally satisfied with the service of FedEx. Moreover, he thinks FedEx is a very good, speedy, trustworthy and co-operative brand. Mrs. Dilruba Chowdhury: Pepsi: The full meaning of Pepsi, according to Mrs. Dilruba, is Pay Every Penny to Save Israel. Moreover its an American company, she added. So, she thinks every Muslim should

avoid this particular soft drink because, in her view, Israel and America are Muslims enemy. She also added that buying Pepsi means killing Muslim brothers and sisters. Hallmark Cards: She doesnt like gift cards which contains human or cartoon pictures. And when it was asked, What is your perception about Hallmark Cards as an American brand? she replied I didnt know that Hallmark is an American brand. She also added we should not purchase anything from any American company, because they are also our enemy. FedEx: Mrs. Dilruba uses FedEx several times before. Her feelings about FedEx are favorable. She added some good words toward this particular brand because of its fast and quality work. But at the same time she does not like it only because it is an American brand. When the question was asked then why do you use it? she replied I dont have any other good options to deliver something abroad.

Summary:
After analyzing the personal details, religious views, religious activities and perception towards American brands of Mr. Kazi Zubayer Ahmed and Mrs. Dilruba Chowdhury, it is clearly seen that being strict or not in Islamic rules and regulations have enormous influence on the perception of American brands whether it is a good brand or not. Because of Mr. Zubayer is an open minded, quality loving and stylish person, and not very much conscious about strictly maintaining Islamic rules; his perception towards American brands are very positive. On the other hand, Mrs. Dilrubas perceptions about American brands are extremely negative. The main reason behind it is Americas predatory mentality against Muslim countries. But in the FedEx case we can see that her perception against the brand is not that much bad only because of the unavailability of other options and of course quality. Hence, unavailability of services and quality may change the perception of strictly religious people. My personal opinion toward this scenario is to be neutral. Because, whether or not its an American brand, as a consumer we should think about the quality of the product or service. And Yes! If you see any Anti Muslim activities by particular American company, you should avoid that companys product.
