WhatisthetimecommitmentforShowChoir? Dailyclassroomperiodsaswellasweeklyafternoon/eveningrehearsalson MondaysandThursdays.ExtrarehearsalsmightalsobescheduledTuesdayor Wednesdayafternoons/eveningspriortoimportantperformances.Youwillreceivea fullscheduleofrehearsalsandperformanceswhenschoolstartsinthefall.Wewill beperformingatChiliSupper,FallShow,HolidayConcert,ourownMidwestInvitational, SpringTheatre,K8MusicDay,SeniorNightandatseveralfulldayshowchoir invitationalfestivalshostedbyotherhighschools.Thesearefulldaycommitmentson SaturdaysinJanuary,February,andMarch.Thetypicalfestivaldayconsistsofa daytimeperformanceinthemorningorearlyafternoon,hangingoutinthecafeteriafor lunch(freetimewithyourfriendsormeetingnewfriendsfromotherschools!),watching performancesbygroupsfromotherschools,alateafternoonawardsceremony,and sometimesanevening"Finals"performance.Dependingonourratings,wewouldstayto performintheeveningfinalsortowatchtheothergroupsselectedtoperform.Atentative calendarofeventsfornextyearisincludedinthispacket.Ifyouanticipatehaving irresolvableconflictswithanyoftheperformanceslisted,pleaseconsultadirector beforeauditioning.Foreveryshowwheresinger/dancersaremissing,welose valuablerehearsaltimereblockingandrepositioningtheshow.Thisisunfairtoother membersofthechoirwhohavehonoredtheircommitmenttotheensemble. WhatisthefinancialobligationforShowChoir? Duetotherisingcostsofoperatingahighlycompetitiveshowchoirprogram (customclothing,custommusicarrangements,renownclinicians,travelcosts)MOSTof thecostume,music,equipment,travel,competitionandpropexpenseswillbepaidbythe establishedstudentfee,thoughthisfiguredoesnotcoveralloperationcosts,and additionalfundraisingmaybeneededforothergroupexpenses.Itistheresponsibilityof eachfamilytoattainthefeeeitherthroughfundraisingand/orcash.Lastyear,the studentfeesforeachgroupperstudentwere: LesFemmes$2200+ActivityCost($2001styr,$100returningCash/Checkonly) Swingsations$2600. Recognizingthatthisisaconsiderablecosttoanyfamily,involvementin fundraisingoftenminimizes/eliminatestheneedforcashpayments.Nostudentwillbe excludedfromtheactivityforreasonsoffinancialhardship.
