Mortality can been taken from the world standard at a rate of 10% at each key stage. Fertility of Breeders and eggs can been taken at 90% of flock and eggs this is accepted as a world standard. Egg production for a hen has been derived from genetic inheritance and available figures. It should be noted that the production of eggs in the first laying year for hens may vary. It should be noted that the laying rate can vary from 30 - 100 eggs per hen. A mean rate of 60 eggs per hen is accepted as the normal case. It is expected that hens will start to lay in year three but level of fertility is no know. Chick price has been worked out at RS 5,000 for worse case, but market realities will mean chick prices will be closer to RS 8,000 to RS 10,000. The Ostrich meat price has been worked out at RS 500 as a worse case, but market realities will mean the prices will be closer to RS 700 to RS 800.
