About the Seminar

It is now well understood that software is indispensable for Business, Science and also Technology. The influence of Software technologies on our daily life has grown exponentially during last two decades. The characteristics of software make it complex and invisible which make it difficult to apply the practices that are used in other industries. One of the common practices in manufacturing industry is statistical process control (SPC). The idea of applying SPC to Software Development however is brought mainly by Capability Maturity Model (CMM). Applying quantitative methods such as SPC to Software Development Projects can provide a positive cost benefit return. Generally a SPC is used on inspection and test data to assess product quality during testing and to predict the postship product quality for a major software release. The objective of this seminar is to provide stimulating and interactive forum to highlight the major developments in the field; in particular to gain better understanding of the use of SPC in Software Engineering and other Industry Practice for Producing quality software. The programme consists of keynote address, invited talks and panel discussions. The organizers of the conference wish to bring together leading researchers and experts from the institutions and industry to share their knowledge.

The MCA Department, PES Institute of Technology is conducting a National Seminar on Software Engineering at the PESIT campus in Bangalore on 30-31 October, 2012. The purpose of this National Seminar is to bring together researchers working in related areas. The seminar calls for participation of young researchers and teachers from Indian Universities, National laboratories, IT industries and other R&D organizations in the country to discuss mainly the Software Development Process. Experts across the country are invited as resource persons.
