The phrase under newmanage-
ment nowapplies to the Beaumont
school district, but opinions onwhat
that means vary widely, depending on
the source.
Deathpenalty, was one opinion,
andits speaker, District 3 trustee
WoodrowReece, was just as adamant
inthat it was undeserved.
Beginning of resurgence, said
Michael Getz, Beaumont city coun-

New faces on BISD board
wouldnt show up until June
This is not
celebratory.
I wish it had
not come to this, but
I think the commis-
sioner had no choice.
Now, we have to
go through it, try
to unify and get it
behind us.

BEAUMONT ISD: WEIGHING IN ON THE TAKEOVER
I didnt think
we should
get the death
penalty. Were not like
El Paso or North For-
est. Dr. Chargois was
starting to put things
together. Some people
in the last two years
were hell-bent on
taking this board out.
Woodrow Reece, District 3
trustee
I feel relieved
in that there
will be people
coming in to take a
real serious look at
what we have. People
are coming in who
will trust, but verify.
In the past, we didnt
have verification.
Tom Neild, District 6 trustee

Fundamentally, theres a
belief that your sitting boardand
superintendent are passionately
concernedabout the success of
our children, Chargois saidafter
Mondays meeting. Until such
time we are not allowedto do that,
per se, we will do that.
