OBJECTIVES
At the end of this block student will be to ; KNOWLEDGE Identify the roles of other health care team with the basic needs of the patients.
Nurses, attendant, pharmacist, physiotherapist, radiograpfer, dietition.

Describe the professional roles of nursing hierarchy

Understand the role and contribution of nurses in the ward and clinics as
Care provider, communicator/helper, teacher, client advocator, coordinator, rehabilitator, counselor, manager, researcher, leader and change agent

Identify the legal implications of drug administration to patients Identify preventive measures in prevention of infection

SKILL
Observe the nursing skills as in the logbook for phase 1 at the appropriate wards/clinic posted Assist in basic nursing skills as in the log book for phase 1 at the appropriate wards/clinics posted
Activities of daily living of patients Nursing observation of patients Therapeutic interventions of patient wound dressing, medication ets. care to pediatric, geriatric and ills patients

Perform a correct technique of nursing skills at the clinical skill center and HUSM wards
Taking temp, taking B/P, hand washing, oxygen therapy and wound dressing

ATTITUDES Understand the roles of nurses in the care of patients Appreciate the importance of nursing input in the medical field Develop therapeutic relation between medical and nursing services Understand the complementary roles of other health care provider (nurses, attendants and auxiliary staffs) in the care of patient
