Engage, assess, intervene, and evaluate with individuals, families, groups, organizations, and communities.
Core Competency 10
Substantively and affectively prepare for action with individuals, families, groups, organizations, and communities. Example: Follow the agencys policies and talk with my supervisor about how to engage the clients.
Collect, organize, and interpret data Example: Research facts that I do not know or understand and take notes when I observe a visitation at DSS or make a home visit.
Develop a mutually agreed upon intervention goal and objectives. Example: Attend PPAT meetings at DSS to get updated facts and speak with the social worker to agree upon recommendations that should be made concerning the childrens services and the mothers and/or fathers FSCP.
Select appropriate intervention strategies. Example: Recommend that the mother or father be court-ordered into drug court. Recommend that the parents or children are getting the appropriate services.
Implement prevention interventions that enhance client capacities. Example: Ensure that everyone involved is getting the services that they need.
Help clients resolve problems Example: Ensure that everyone involved is getting the services that they need. Ensure that the children (clients) know that we are here to tell the judge what they want (to see their parents or not, etc.).
Negotiate, mediate, and advocate for clients Example: Make home visits; Make recommendations in regards to what is the best course of action for the children.
Critically analyze, monitor, and evaluate interventions Example: Ensure that the services that the children and/or parents are getting are helping them get the help they need. If not for parents, recommend that they contact EastPointe to get another provider.
