PROPOSAL

RESEARCH PROPOSAL:
The naturalization of the It Girl via yellow journalism.

RESEARCH QUESTIONS:
a) b) c) d) e) How and why is an It Girl socially constructed? Are not all the brackets of media, yellow journalism? Is the media/yellow journalism the It Girls sole source of sustenance. How and why was the It Boy lassoed into this media hype? Does the multitude consider the It Girl to be a bane or a boon in this Age of Globalization?

PURPOSES:
The approach of our study is to explore, discover and revise the cult worship of the scion of a capitalistic marketing strategy commonly known to all as the It Girl. This phenomenon is the propaganda of the media/yellow journalism at large; that baits the masses vis--vis idealization. This femme fatale is intended by her creators and distributors to be emulated by the female or 3rd Gender diaspora as well as to be lusted after by the male or 3rd Gender populace hence through the medium of the media/yellow journalism as a tool; she is commodified and reinforced in the guise of being but natural when in fact she is institutionalized. Keeping in mind Andy Warhols 15 minutes of fame (Idiomatic Expression), the It Girl as we know her today is described as,A socialite that appeals and sells to the tabloids and ultimately the wider world. She keeps in sync with the demands of current affairs through constant self-reinvention while simultaneously staying far out of everyones league; successfully managing to render her fandom as complexed for times to come. She is panned by most critics as,The prostitution of Postfeminism.

THEORETICAL FRAMEWORK:
We plan on achieving this by conducting a scrutiny of highly rated reality television programs, determined through the lens of various discourses on the It Girl in hegemonic Popular Culture.

METHODOLOGY:
a) Abstract and literature review on how the It Girl of media/yellow journalism gives rise to designing gender roles and identities.

b) Semi-structured questionnaire, surveying the participants opinions on the topic. c) The deconstruction of reality television.

LIMITATIONS:
Due to a lack of reality television shows in Pakistan, the sample is not generalized.

DELIMITATIONS:
It is the aforementioned shortcoming that brings to mind the question, as to why the Pakistani audience is presently deprived of standard reality television?
