LISCO FIELD TRIP AT ADDU, UIC Bankerohan, UM Matina, CITY LIBRARY PRE-REFLECTION SELF- REFLECTION

PRE-REFLECTION

On February 24, 2014 Bachelor of Library and Information Science were having a Fieldtrip at ADDU,UIC ,UM AND CITY LIBRARY. The objectives of these activities are to experience the work inside the library; Blis Students will expose the four types of library; to gain knowledge how the library will change the perceptions of students. The 1st library was visit is the Ateneo de Davao University; this is the largest academic library we ever visit. I was amazed when I enter their library; every corner has an OPAC (Online Public Access Catalogue) from 2nd floor to 5ft floor and the same time have an assigned librarian. They have eight Online Databases. They adopt the automation of from follet to TLC, their classification from Dewey decimal classification to Library of Congress. They have a largest collection in terms of books, theses and dissertations, CD-ROM collections, Rizaliana and other materials in library. They have also one hundred titles of catalos, magazines and other special collections. Their American Corner is open to all the users even are not an Athenians, it is for research purposes. Their collections came from the United States. We have also a time to see how they clipping their newspaper. The services they offered for their users is good enough to meet the expectations or all their clients because of the materials is worth it to used. 2nd library we visit is the University of Immaculate Conception; they conduct a library orientation and other services they offered to their clients. Their library is under renovation because they are planning to have information common. I amazed to their archives library, its very organized and 24hours air conditioned and its should be dim light. The archivist librarian was very passionate, commitment, and very devoted for her works. The only one man librarian have a heart to love her works, shes very organized in terms of her collections, from yearbooks, and other documents related of their schools. 3rd library we visit is the University of Mindanao, it was block buster experienced and they promote their school. I was amazed area of their library, on one area of building in 3 rd floor they was able to expand all the section of library. They have a large area of circulation. I was amazed of their technical section, their new acquired materials were on the shelves, and they have a binder section. They have a memorabilia, museum, Davao collections,

Lastly, the city library since we have short period of time to explore on their library but we can visit it on the other time since it was open to all the users. They have their children section and American collection and bindery section.

REFLECTION As I experienced when we were having our Field Trip at ADDU, UIC, UM AND CITY LIBRARY, at the same time conducting an interview for the librarian with have different field of positions. It was a great in feeling that we can explore and experienced in the four types of library. Being a librarian is not an easy job, but only a librarian knows how it goes. It is important that you have a passion, commitment and devotion to your work that can apply it to your job and to your colleagues. Always remember the 3H, head, heart and hand. Your dedication is important to meet the expectations of your users, and to meet the standards of your library.
